From reporter Rochelle Ester: The summer is flying by and before we know it, we will be settling down for the winter. Most of us will have some nice memories of things that we have done and places that we have gone during the summer. After talking with some of the folks in the knitting room, it sounds like they will have their share of memo ries. The knitting department worked during the week of the Fourth, which is considered vacation week, but several of the folks took some time off: Virginia Wood had visitors from St. Louis, so she took off to enjoy her c omp any, ., Rochelle Ester went to see her brother in West Virginia and came back by Natural Bridge and Luray Caverns, . . Those who were working in the knitting department the week of the Fourth had the pleasure of having Helen Mason act as their timekeeper. Don't feel sorry for Helen because she and her sister, Billie Bowden, had already spent a week in Maryland visiting their sister. .. Frances Hundley took her first plane trip. She flew to Pennsylvania and drove o n to Niagara Falls. . . Dorothy Cline visited relatives in Madisonville, Tennessee and went to Myrtle Beach. .. Geneva Hassell -16- wen t to see her son in Houston, Texas. . , Frances Turney visited her sister in Newark, Del, , .Betsy Downing enjoyed a trip to Caro- winds. , .Herbert King visited with friends in Georgia. . . Eloise Dailey went to Chattanooga, Tennessee, Rock City and Six Flags. .. Linda Lamb visited friends in Norfolk, Virginia and also spent some time at Myrtle Beach. . . The beaches were inviting to quite a few people: Kitty Hilliard spent a week at Ocean Island, Derrell Frazier went to Crescent Beach, Ray mond Stamey went to Cherry Grove and Ava Lee Hodges went t o Myrtle Beach. Claude and Esther Cook went to the beach and to see the U. S. S. North Carolina Battleship. . . Jerry Green and family spent a week at North Myrtle Beach. Estelle Teal was on sick leave at vacation time. Viola Lineberry, Betty Nalley and Mildred Carter were among those who went camping with their families. , . Etrula Williams said that something good happened to her. She held evangelistic services in several churches in South Carolina and also got a one-year contract with the Music City Song Grafters of Nashville, Tennessee. She wrote a song, "Nobody Knows The Trouble You See, " and it will be out soon. Jesse Moore has been fishing every chance he gets. Did you see his picture in The High Point Enterprise? He was the lone fisherman at City- Lake just sitting and thinking and waiting for the fish to bite. . .Some of the folks say that they haven't done anything special just been using the time to fill up their freezers. . . Edns Teal says that she is still hoping to getinabeacb trip to Holdens Beach. . .Jewel Patterson ha® recently returned to work after spending a week in the mountains, although she said most of her time was spent working, . .Lucille Miller ha® returned from a visit with her brother in Canada* She also took her first plane trip. Lucille said it was not as bad as she thought it would be, but she still does not care for flying unless it i® to see her brother, , .Frank Dingier attended the annual homecoming at Mills Home in Thoma®' ville on August 4 and 5. He said that he hasbeeP going every year since he graduated in 1929. year, he saw some people that he had not seen i** 35 years. Mary Deaton and Annie Mae Lewis, the sample department, also attended the home coming. , .Donald Garris had a little mishap while at a karate session, which resulted in hi® having to walk with a cast on his foot.
