Carrie Warren
111 health has forced
Pauline Atkins, order
clerk of Adams-Millis
Hosiery Company in
Mt. Airy, to retire early.
She had been with the
company since September
of 1947.
"I liked my work
and I loved everybody I
worked with, but now my
doctor says that I must
give up public work be-
Pauline Atkins
cause of my health. I will always remember how
nice everybody was to me. "
In September of 1972 and again in January of
1973, Pauline underwent surgery for rheumatoid
arthritis, but her health did not improve enough
for her to remain at her work.
She has been an active member of Union Hill
Friends Church near Mt. Airy for many years;
she has served as church treasurer and never
missed a Sunday before her illness. Now she
finds that she is able to attend only occasionally.
