A lady was reading to her little granddaughter
about how a chicken is hatched. She said, "Isn’t
it wonderful how baby chicks get out of their
shells ? "
"What I don't understand, " the child answered,
"is how they get in! "
CHECK THE HUMIDITY
Properly humidified air will make you feel com
fortable at lower temperatures. A relative
humidity of 35% to 40% is desirable inmosthomes.
This level can be measured by an inexpensive
hygrometer.
Honesty Brings Its Own Reward . . .
Whatever your sphere in life, you are sure
to find it one of temptation. You need watchful'
ness and resolution. Guard against dishonestyi
even in the smallest matters. Avoid the thing®
that lead to it--drink and extravagance, betting
and gambling, and improper associations. Lod
upon your employer's interests as if they wet®
your own.
"You must give me good measure, " said®
customer to a young man clerk one day, "yout
boss is not in."
"My boss is always in, " answered the young
man, looking seriously at the customer.
Honesty brings its own reward. Sometime®
the reward may assume the form least expected*
A clerk was directed by his employer to answe®
a letter countermanding a previous order of
goods, by saying that they had been already
shipped. It was false; and the clerk refused
write the lie. Instead of being turned away, a®,
he thought not improbable, he was made confi'i
dential clerk. Honesty's reward may not alwaY’
come in that shape; but there will always b®
enriched character, and a good conscience.

An irate employee went to the paymaster aP
carefully counted the money in his pay envelop^j
"It's one dollar short! What's the meaning ^
this!"
The paymaster checked a record sheet an^’
smiling broadly, replied: "Last week we ovet
paid you a dollar. You didn't complain about tl>®
mistake then, did you?"
"An occasional mistake I can overlook*
answered the employee, "but not two mistakes
a row!"
