PLANT #6 - HICKORY Vashnti Payne visited in St. Louis, Mo. and Dolly Setzer spent a week in Clolorada. . . Josie Huffman, of the office, went to Myrtle Beach for a long weekend. . Two new employees are Patricia Woody of Cuffing and Carolyn Thomas in Pair ing. . . Terry G. Hilton was expected to return home in Juneifrom Holland after three years there with the U.S. Air Force. He is the son of Ruth Hilton of Finishing. . .Kat hy Yoder of Finishing honored her parents on their 50th wedding anniversary by composing a poem for them entitled ‘ ‘Your Golden Anni versary.” The poem traced events of Mr. and Mrs. Corporate Administrative Offices [con’t from page 3] Corporation, heads the de partment which processes information reported from throughout the plants and offices. This information is keyed into data-entry machines, then stored in the C!orpora- tion’s computer. Later this data is utilized for reports covering every aspect of the Corporation’s business, for such areas as production, sales and accounting. Also imder Jim’s supervi sion are the Corporation’s Print Shop and the private telephone system, which Adams-Millis owns and op erates throughout the Corpo rate Office and the plants in North Carolina. Jim is a graduate of Flori da State University and has studied at the University of North Carolina Graduate School. Iris Marshall, now Assist ant Secretary of the (Corpo ration, first came to work in 1950 as a secretary. Since 1970, she has been executive secretary to Mr. Millis and Mr. Mewbome. Iris holds the Certified Professional Secretary Certi ficate, which she was award ed last year. To qualify for this, the applicant must un dergo two days of examina tions that cover all phases of secretarial duties, from fi nancial accounting to office procedures. As Assistant Secretary of the Corporation, Iris handles all correspondence with shareholders and assists with mailing shareholder proxy materigds and the An nual and Quarterly Reports. She also attends the Annual Meetings of Stockholders to report on proxy tabulations. She is a Notary Public for the Corporation. Vester Reed’s life from the date of their marriage on May 19, 1928 to the present time. PLANT #7 -- HIGH POINT From the Folding Depart ment - Melitta McCroskey was expected home in late Jime after visiting her family in Germany. . . Ruth Sny der, Gladys Bowman and Rebecca Hall are on leave due to illness. . . Josephine Bailey and her husband have a new daughter - Shontelle Denise. From the Seaming Depart ment — AUene Styron and Iris Queen are on leave, recuperating from surgery. From the Knitting Depart ment ~ Garvie Nunley and his wife have a new daugh ter, Jf - - fixer. Pla George Harris and Curtis Martin, both Certified Public Accoimtants, are the (Corpo rate Accoimting Supervisors. They are responsible for all areas of corporate account ing, including all accounts payable and receivable and are concerned with all finan cial information on build ings, machinery and other equipment owned by the Corporation. Consolidation of ^ancial data for monthly operating reports, quarterly and annual reports, as well as reports for the Securities Exchange Commission and forecasts of future opera tions, are other areas inclu ded in their duties. George is a graduate of East Carolina University at Greenville, and Ciulis grad uated from the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill. Mack D. Harris is Opera tions Manager of Informa tion Services and directly supervises the computer operators, programmers and control clerks. Mack commented that the Adams-Millis computer, which occupies a 25 by 28-foot climate-controlled room in the (k)rporate Of fice building, is capable of storing 420 million charac ters (individual figures or letters) on magnetic disks. Information stored covers such areas as accounts pay able, accounts receivable, production and cost reports, orders and invoices. As an example of the speed with which the com puter works. Mack mention ed that as many as 65,000 production tickets from em ployees can be computed in approximately an hour. Before becoming Opera tions Manager, Mack had worked in other phases of data processing. He has completed a number of spe cial courses relating to his work. Gerry Bailey is Assistant Operations Manager In formation Services. She has been with Adams-Millis 24 years and previously worked as Key Punch Operator, Computer Operator, and Shift Supervisor in Informa tion Services. Vickie Miller is Data Entry Supervisor in Information Services and is responsible for distributing the work in this department to data entry operators. These operators work at machines which have keyboards similar to a type writer. 'The information they punch on these keyboards is transferred to msignetic tape to be processed by the computer. This information includes data concerning production, payroll, group insurance, orders, accounts payable, accounts receiv able, shipping and billing information. Prior to being promoted to her present position, Vickie was Assistant Schedriling Manager at Adams-Millis Texturing and Dyeing. JOHN!. FARRINGTON, SR. John had been with Adams- Millis for 32 years and last worked as security guard at Plant #3 in Kernersville. In 1975, he retired from the Boarding Department after 32 years of service, but had returned to employment with the Company in 1976.
