Willard Lisa Wilson Earnings Chairman J.H. Millis Sr. reported higher sales and earnings for Adams-Millis Corporation for the six months ended June 28,1987. Net sales and earnings for the 26 weeks were $89,710,000 and $2,180,000 ($.46 per share) compared to $6,474,000 and $2,941,000 ($.42 per share) for the same 1986 period. Net sales and earnings for the second quarter of 1987 were $46,010,000 and $1,142,000 ($.24 per share) compared to $39,609,000 and $1,191,000 ($.26 per share) in second quarter of 1986. “The increase in sales is due primarily to sales ge nerated by Maro Hosiery Corp. which was acquired April 30, 1986, ” Millis said. “The increased in total sales were offset somewhat by a softening in the unbranded sheer hosiery market. “Strong competitive pres sures have resulted in a de crease in sales and earnings from this portion of our op erations, he said.” “The major sheer hosiery brands are making a concentrated effort to increase their mar ket shares in the sheer ho siery business which has had an adverse affect on all un branded manufacturers.” However, sales of Adams-Millis socks, both branded and unbranded, remain strong, Millis said. j I Weaver To Retire William A.
