Employees there contributed 522,268, compared to 512,96.5 in 1990. The 1991 goal was set at 518,000 and contributions ex ceeded the goal by 24 percent. “1 want to thank everyone for evetv'thing they did to make this campaign such a success,” Leach said. “Everyone was .so coopera tive and helpful in every way possible.” At a victory celebration, .sev eral employees won a variety of prizes through a drawing. Win ning Sara Lee product baskets were Sandra Green, Lu Rogers, Jerry Durham and Robin Kori- . inck. Coach portfolios went to Rc- becai Lewis, Van Joyce and Tracy Caswell. Sandi Beck, Anita Spencer and Sharon Perko each won Champion bags. Winning a day off with pay were Ava Vaught, David Teal, William Johnson, Mary Bostic, Carol Elliott and Ann Thomasson. In Kernersville, Adams-Mil- lis employees contributed more than 547,000 to the 1991 United Way of Forsyth County Cam paign, exceeding their 1990 to tal by .56 percent. “What these folks did is in credible in view of the current economic situation,” said Don Dwiggins, campaign division director for the United Way. “What they have done speaks volumes. With what they have done it certainly sets the pace for what could be the most suc cessful United Way campaign ever in Kernersville. If that is the case, it certainly will be due in large part to what Adams- Millis employees have shown through their contributions.” Contributions from employ ees in the Kernersville Finish ing Plant totaled S52,545..56 while Kernersville Knitting employ ees atntributed 514,941.28 in the pacesetting effort for a total of 547,486.64. The contributions will help to fund 52 member-agencies in Forsyth County. “This campaign really goes back to the people at Adams- Millis,” Dwiggins added. “They really care about people. There was no pressure from manage ment for contributions. They just gave it of their own free will.” About 500 Adams-Millis em ployees who contributed a “fair share” in the campaign celebrated with a victory luncheon August 21 outside the Kernersville Fin ishing Plant. Along with a ca tered meal, the group enjoyed entertainment by WMAG-FM Magic Radio’s Rod Davis, Bill Johnson and Wendy Brophy and had an opportunity to soak their supervisors in a dunking booth. Several Kernersville employ ees also won prizes in a drawing conducted at the victory cele bration. Winning hot air balloon rides were Rhonda Qtx, Genita Oakes, Tammy Reeves and Joyce Meckins. Donna Mills, Linda Johmson, Kay Williams, Elizabeth Ted der, Joel Triplett, Debra Martin and Vera Beane each won tick ets to the Hanes 500 NASCAR race at Martinsville, Va. Winning produej baskets were James Rice, Jackie Black, Anne Mason, Bobbie Mullies, Pat Fulton and Doug Shelley. Marty Nelson won the grand prize, a Weekend with the Stars package to the Crosby Golf Tournament next spring. It in cludes two nights at the Hyatt Hotel in Winston-Salem, tick ets to the clam bake, dinner on Saturday and VIP tickets to the golf tournament. In High Point, employees con tributed 550,097.56 to the High Point United Way Campaign, an increase of more than 10 percent over 1990’s contribu tions. During a victory celebration emceed by WMAG-FM Morn ing Show Host Bill Flynn, sev eral employees won prizes. Winning tickets to the Hanes 500 NASCAR race in Martinsville were Troy Harbin- son, William Scarlett, Annie Baker, Susan Penley, Anderal Duncan and Carolyn Allen. Winning a day off with pay were Middie Wray, Virginia Noah, Barbara Tyson, Yvonne Williams and Frederico Floren- cio. The grand prize winner of a Weekend with the Stars at the Crosby was Rosa Pate. Early reports from the Silver Knit plant in Drexel show an increase of more than 100 per cent over 1990. Complete United Way cam paign totals will be reported in the December issue of the Amco News.
