Eagles Roll Continued From Page 10 muster a first down in three plays, George Moody, their AU- CIAA haUback candidate, boot ed a very poor kick to the Ea gles’ 48. Taking over for thei second time, the locals again marched 52 yards for their second score In eight plays, with quarterback, Eddie Hudson go ing over from the one yard line. Again it was Webster s’ PAT. The Eagles scored again in the third period when they had their first opportunity to go on ofr^ fense after impeding the goal- ward march of the Trojans. This score came as “Jet” Jackson re ceived a hand-off from Hudson aild \/erlt 6:^his left tackle for 77 yards to score. Paving the way were Baxter Holman, Joe AUen, Deral Webster, and George Winslow. The second score of this period came after Eddie Hudson'had in tercepted one of QB Chuck Haefers’ passes and returned it 14 yards to VSC’s 30 yard line. From this point, it was another tally as “Pete” Hayes went over from the one. NCC Politicians Continued from Page 9) Coiuicil. This should not be too much to ask of intelli gent college students. Has Modern (Continued from Page 3) Not once have I read or heard that any of our so-called out standing Negro collegiate insti tutions included in their lyceum series one jazz group. This fail ure of our Negro colleges to sense and share in the trend recognized by others leads one to wonder just who is leaving; whom behind.' Jazz, after all, is largely a contribution of Negro musicians. Today, I foimd that Brandeis University of Waltham, Mass.,. sponsored a classical-progressive jazz program. The modern jaz;^ artist played some classical mu sic and was given points on how the classical artist develops his type of music, and the classical artist in turn followed this pro- cediure. Both groups found out some thing about each other’s type of music, thus, imparting warmth and understanding for their par ticular field of musical endea-' vor. The concert proved to be a great success, proving even to those who oppose such programs that there is a great deal of worth in the new musical art form, progressive jazz.
