Where there be power and
accuracy, there be superiority;
and where there be Maurice
Handy of NCC, there be fear.
This month, the “Athlete of
the Month” title is given to
Maurice Handy, the power
swinging junior of Washington,,
D. C., who has aided the North
Carolina College Eagles’ Tennis
team pace two of its three con
secutive CIAA Championship
and runners up honors for the
1960 season. Handy, along with,
Napoleon Horton, won , the
doubles championship in the
37th CIAA Tournament.
Handy’s season’s record stands
at 12 wins and 3 losses.
Handy is a gra'duate of Hill
side High here in Durham; how
ever, he now makes his home in
MAURICE HANDY
Washington, D. C. with his
family.'
Since coming to North Caro
lina College with one year of
tennis experience' he has pur
sued a major in physical educa
tion and a minor in biology.,
Upon completing his studies
here he is planning to enter
Ohio State University to s^udy
physical therapy.
He is a fond lover of all
sports; however, he chooses,
swimming as (his favorite. In
answer to my question, what is
your greatest desire while you
are here. Handy said “well, my1
greatest desire is to beat Denton
Johnson of Johnson C. Smith
University, and with the help o£
Coach Younge, who is responsi
ble for my success, I will beat
him in my next match.”
Even Virgil
is with the Winston beat
I Sing Of Arms And
Like Ifilter-blendI, Man,
For if you dig a modern filter cigarette
It figures that it’s what’s up front that is the most
Like pure Flavorsville, orbit stuff, and all that jazz;
And only Winston swings with | FILTER-BLENd| up front,
A real gone combo of golden, rich tobaccos
Selected and processed like for filter smoking;
That’s why, dear cats or even squares, it’s understood
Winston tastes good like a cigarette should!
