Auxiliary Dedicates
History to Porter

its recently compiled liistory and
scrapbook to him. Presented by the
historian, ilrs. Fred Christian, and
nnanimoiisly approved by the Auxili
ary board, the dedication reads:
“It is ideally fitting; and appropri
ate tliat the Women’s Auxiliary of
Duke Hospital should dedicate its
History and Scrap Book to the Hos
pital Administrator, JMr. F. Koss
Porter.
“He initiated the organization of
this particular auxiliary and from the

tional level.

Rehabilitation
Service Open
Duke University iledical School
and Hi.spital has initiated a Rehabili
tation Service for teaching and for
ex])andiu{!: the hospital’s service to
patients, Dean W. C. Davison has an
nounced.
During the first year the teaching
phase of the service will be conducted
under provisions of a $15,000 grant
from the Office of Vocational Rehabil
itation, Washington, 1). C. It i,s an
ticipated that the grant will be re
newed and augmented after the first
year for a ])eriod of five years, giving
a total local grant of $115,000. In
addition to training medical students
at the University, the j)rogram will
benefit key staff personnel as well as
students in nursing, hospital adminis
tration, social service, psychology, and
])hysieal aiul occupational therapy.
Dr. William D. dcC4ravelles has
been appointed director of the new
Rehabilitation Service program. Dr.

Mrs. Watts Eagle and her coffee
service are trying to keep the price
down to seven cents, for the time
being anyway, and the editor re
grets that the price increase story
couldn’t be omitted from the last
issue.
