Auxiliary Strikes a Bargain:
We Hide ’Em, You Hunt ’Em
Thanks to the Hospital Auxiliary, the chil
dren on Matas and Howland wards are not for
gotten during the time of the annual Easter
Bunny Visitation.
Under the able direction of Mrs. Connie
Costing, chairman of the children’s Committee,
Auxiliary volunteers fill small baskets with
“grass” and a toy chick and hide the 150 plas
tic eggs that will later be “discovered” by those
children well enough to participate in the hunt.
Each child gets to keep his basket and three
eggs. Then they help to fill baskets for the chil
dren who can not leave their beds and join in
the fun. Among those Auxiliary volunteers who
helped Mrs. Costing plan the 1967 festivities
were: Mrs. “Pick” Currie, Mrs. Polly Stanley,
Mrs. Jean Bingham, Mrs. Audrey Silberman,
and Mrs. Madge Hauser.
Shown below carrying baskets to the bed
ridden children are “Freddie,” Mrs. Costing,
and Auxiliary volunteer Mrs. Jean Bingham.
Nancy Willwerth is the Howland nurse shown
at right admiring the colorful eggs found by her
small patient.
