INTERCOMMENTS Physical Therapy The staff and students of physical therapy attended a luncheon May 30 in the third floor cafeteria to honor Miss Kathy Irwin, a 1968 graduate of the Duke PT program and a member of the staff for the past six months. She left Duke to marry Charles Schuster in Midland, Tex., June 28. She and her husband, a divinity student at Duke, will go to Edinburgh, Scotland, for a year .... Pete Zarzecki, a PT student, married Catherine Gallagher June 4 in Coral Gables, Fla. They have returned to Durham .... Bill Schmidt, who formerly worked on the PT staff in 1965 and '66, returned June 9 as a staff therapist in the PT clinic. He recently got married .... Mrs. Grace Horton, who is teaching two courses to physical therapy students, is working on a part-time basis after re turning from a maternity leave. Plastic and Oral Surgery Donna Parker, who joined the office staff on March 24 as secretary for Dr. Nicholas Georgiade, is engaged to marry Michael Crutchfield on July 26 ... . Peggy Rigsbee resigned May 30 to move to Kernersville, N. C., with her husband Psychiatry Miss Joanne Peters has accepted the New Director W. W. Lowrance, formerly director of planning and development at Memorial Mission Hospital in Asheville, has been appointed director of the Hospital Divi sion of the Association of the North Carolina Regional Medical Program. Mr. Lowrance is also assuming a post on the senior administrative staff of the University. The association, established in 1966, is composed of Duke, UNC, Wake Forest and the Medical Society of the State of North Carolina. It is interested in all aspects of health, but activities are more specifically con cerned with the areas of heart disease, cancer, stroke and related diseases. Mr. Lowrance is a Davidson College graduate and received training in the Graduate Program in Hospital Adminis tration here. He is president of the North Carolina Hospital Association. Nina Mousouris, secretary in clinical psychology, has re signed to move to Philadelphia .... Dr. Robert Doyle married Cary T. Stoever May 10. They left Duke July 1 for Ft. Lauderdale, Fla., where Dr. Doyle will practice psychiatry .... new face in the child guidance section is Ruby Hagens, secretary School of Medicine Mrs. Marilou Morgan, administrative secretary to Dr. William G. Aniyan, has become a grandmother with the birth of Bryan Keith Hilliard, son of Mr. and Mrs. W. Ronald Hilliard, on June 6 . . . . Mrs. Anne Price, formerly of the anatomy department, has transferred to medical school administration to become secre tary to Dr. Helen Kotin .... Mrs. Jean Porter has transferred from surgery to become a secretary in Dr. Aniyan's office .... Mrs. Marilou Morgan appeared on the Peggy Mann television show June 18 to present the views of the modern-day secretary Surgery Mrs. Arlene Heinemarin began work as a secretary to Dr. David C. Sabiston on June 2. She replaces Mrs. Barbara Boring who resigned to return to school at UNC .... Mrs. Margaret Schmidt began work as secretary to Mr. Robert Berry on June 16 ... . Miss Elizabeth Martin has re signed as a secretary in the surgical resi dents’ office to return to school in Rich mond .... Luna Woods has transferred from Medical PDC to the tumor registry in the Department of Surgery Surgical PDC New employes in the Surgical PDC for the summer are Miss Janet Cheek, Miss Lynn Johnson, Miss Anita Thornton and Miss Clarie Smith .... Mrs. Charlotte Griffin and Mrs. Nancy Gunnells have resigned from their positions in the in surance office Unit Administration Marshall Rivers, Jr., PCA, married Ella Tillman May 31 .... advanced L. N.'s on the unit include Ann Carter on Cushing, Avis Hernall on Reed, Irene Schrath on Reed, and Catherine Wooten on Halsted .... medication assistants for the summer include Samuel Johnson on Cushing, Helen Leggett on Reed, Mary Ledbetter and Robert Hoag on Halsted and Robert Worley and Mi chael William on McDowell .... new PCA's on the unit are Margie Barbee and Ed Phillips .... now working as ward clerks are Jenny Newton and Mary Baker on Cushing, Sylvia Cannon and Linda Goss on Reed, Coralene Smith and June Montgomery on McDowell, and Anna Steele and Sally Watkins on Halsted. Frances Whittled is a new relief ward clerk .... new unit secretary is Rebecca Little .... ward clerk Valinda Leach resigned to join her husband .... Miss Virginia Royster, formerly unit secre tary, left May 30 to travel and further her education .... Linda Baird, R. N., re signed to live in Philadelphia .... Jo Ann Graverhols, R. Personnel Gets Tufhill^ McClees Among University administrative shifts this summer were several involving the Medical Center Personnel Office. Robert C. Tuthill, formerly assistant director of personnel for the University, was named director of personnel for the medical center. A business administration graduate of Hofstra University in Hempstead, N. Y., Mr. Tuthill has been assistant director of personnel at Duke since 1967. In his medical center post, Mr. Tuthill succeeded Frank N. Gay, who was named to a new position as director of employ ment for the University. Working as assistant personnel director is Cecil C. McClees. He had held the post earlier, but in the meantime had been serving as employe relations represen tative.
