1976 MVP Phil McRae Phil McRae, out standing golfer and most valuable player in 1976, will lead the Rams again in 1977. As co-captain, along with Ernie Cain last year, Phil led the conference with a 74.7 season average. He was also Medalist in the conference tournament. Phil has worked very hard on his golf game last year and this year. Coach Barry Nation expects him to receive a golf scholarship to a four-year institution. Says Nation: “Phil has a good attitude toward the game and his teammates. He is the type of individual any coach would appreciate in regards to dedication, mental attitude and team leadership.” Coach Nation expects Phil to be one of the top three finalists in the North Carolina Community College Athletic Association. He finished first in the Association last year. Nation also thinks McRae can be Southeastern Community College’s first All American Golfer. Phil is also an out- standing academic student. He carries a 3.4 grade point average. After graduation from Delco High School in 1973, Phil was assistant pro. at Florence Country Club in South Carolina. He is presently the club champion at Riegelwood Country Club. McRae has been offered golf scholarships from two schools at this point. He says that Pembroke is likely to be his next move. Phil plans to continue in the golf profession either as a pro or business manager. terry BLACKMAN Activities Roundup “What’s Going On?” was a record sung by Marvin Gaye a few years ago. To SCC’s students, “What’s Going On? is a question asked 308 times to many students. The student lounge came alive with the musiv of the “ONYX”, a group of young men who volun teered to perform in the lounge. The show was great and enjoyed by all. You should check out the bulletin board in the lounge and the trophy case also. The bulletin board can provide you with information on happenings on campus. Recently, Miss SCC was chosen, (Venessa Malloy) cheerleaders selected, Mr. Superjock elected, (Ray Bland) and how to join the tennis team. A special feature is that of photos; so keep looking and you might see you know who. I might add too that there are new games found in the game room, please drop by in your leisure hours of the day. Painting the Can relates to the Art class which is under the direction of Christine Balogh. This, in itself, has added some color to the student lounge. The garbage cans now have a new look and identification, so good luck. ' Thanks, SCC Art class, for helping to make the Student Lounge a bright spot on campus. I think that recognition is also in order to Bob Priest, who was supervisor of the Super jock contest. If you feel that you have news of interest to the students and faculty, please contact the Ram’s Horn. ANNIE COSTON
