Memories? 76-77 Yearbook
Will their be any
(memories) for the 76-77
graduates and students of
that academic year?
Were we given a fair
chance? Will all these
memories stay in our
hearts without photos?
Are students and
faculty members so in
volved that they couldn’t
get an issue together? If
the school annuals were
going to be closed why
weren’t students told
before it was too late to do
anything about it? When
the interest of the year
book was re-established
the RAM-O-GRAM
carried the report. Why
wasn’t the matter carried
in the RAM-O-GRAM
when the yearbook staff
closed down? A 77-78
Annual will be worked on,
wasn’t the year 76-77 as
important? Why didn’t we
have students and staff
interested enough to work
Ml it. Or were they as
blind about the matter as
I and other students.
The yearbook is lots of
devoted time and work.
Yet, everything takes
time and work. This
should have been an
important matter to
everyone on campus.
I think that it is too late
to do anything about this
matter. How many more
activities or projects will
be dropped aside because
(rf poor participation.
If students who were on
the staff dropped by the
end of preparation for the
book, why weren’t others
asked to help? Why did
students drop-off the
staff? Did the staff ever
have gatherings? Did
they see other annuals
being put together? The
reasons for the death of
the yearbook of 76-77
cannot be all the students
or faculties fault. I was
told students had poor
interest in this, but what
caused it? How much
interest did the faculty
have?
Annuals are made with
thousands of members at
senior colleges. There are
lots more people so that
means lots of work. We
have students only in the
hundreds; far less than a
senior college. It should
be possible to turn out an
annual even if it is not the
best. We cannot even say
we tried.
Poor participation and
interest of our students
toward this should be
handled. I know the
students hope for much
success with the annual
that is to be processed for
77-78.

One pleasure of life is
smoking, and since I am a
pipe smoker, and my
name is Bob, I enjoy
“smoking with Bob”. This
is the way of introducing a
new section for the Ram’s
Horn to you. I will be

on those who want to get
the most from the college
they are attending. Take
the student lounge (and
sometimes I wish you
would) and those students
that refuse to help keep it

and putting them trying to mess it up. How
Student Activity Fees
Any man accused of a
crime these days needs a
lawyer to advise him of his
rights — especially if he’s
guilty.
I have heard students
complain a lot about
paying student activity
fees and not getting
anything for them. Our
fees are used to benefit us
the students. Since I have
been here at Southeastern
I have seen our fees work
for us.
The student activity
fees has given us, an
annual cookout. Miss.

Homecoming Queen and
dance, the Christmas
dance and The Earl
Scruggs Revue, just to
name a few. Have we
forgotten the Disco’s we
have had with The
Mailman, Worth Crow,
TTie Love Street Gang,
The Revolution Band,
Onyx, Kitty Hawk, and all
the foods for the above
activities? It took money
to do all these things you
know! Our fees have
purchased the new picnic
tables we have on the
campus, nobody gave
them to us. Our fees help
support the Sports
Departments, the
Cheerleaders, Model
United Nations,
Cosmetology Club, Chess
Club, Fine Arts, Chorus,
Student Nurses
Association and Phi Theta
Kappa.
Our money is handled
by The Student Govern
ment Association, people
that you, the student,
voted into office. If you
didn’t vote it’s your own
fault, you can’t blame
anyone but yourself. The
Student Government
Association is an
organization through
which the student governs
itself and has a voice in
the management of the
college.
If you missed voting for
S.G.A. members last fall,
don’t miss our spring
election in April, when
we’ll vote for a new.
President, Vice
President, Secretary, and
Treasurer. It is important
that we vote for the people
who we want to represent
us.
So if you are one of
these students who
complain that nothing
happens at S.C.C. then
you should get involved,
find out the reasons why
and give S.G.A. your
support. Remember
S.G.A. is you — the
student.

together, in such a way,
that I hope you also enjoy
“Smoking with Bob”.
Don’t expect anything
fancy or long winded, and
don’t get upset if you don’t
agree with what I’m
smoking. Just try to
understand, because
understanding is the
beginning of com
munication, and com
municating is the
beginning of un
derstanding.
One of the things that I
don’t understand is why
some College students
about that duty table, or
all those “butts” on the
floor. Most of the time,
those students who make
the mess complain the
loudest. So, what about all
of us, students and faculty
pitching in, not only to
make the lounge a better
place, but also to make
see a place we are proud
of.
Eno^h said, so until
next time, “lite” up and
enjoy “Smoking with
Bob” each and every day.

Career Education - Effect
On Younger Generation
Sometimes there is too
much emphases placed on
education or careers at an
early age, thus leading to
a choice of a career too
early in life. This error, of
course, can lead to a
corrupt mind of the in
dividual at an immature
age. There is also danger
in association of our
children’s education too
closely with a particular
machine which may be
obsolete in a few years.
The key word in
education is motivation.
We are told (and I see this
being encountered
everyday with my own
chil(i-en) that children
become bored with the
courses involved in a
general comprehensive
education, and that they
need to be especially
motivated to continue to
study. Now advocates of
career education say their
program is the solution
that will kindle and hold
the interest of young
people and cause them to
study harder instead of
becoming listless and
turning up in statistics as
dropouts.
Why is it contended that
a career education will
accomplish what a
general comprehensive
education could not? It is
hoped that career
education will appeal to
the self-interest of the
child, and because of its
pragmatic nature, will
hold the attention of the
younger generation.
However, industry tells
us that their employees

and purpose of life?
The paycheck certainly
symbolizes the economic
objectives of the student,
but by no means does it
touch upon many other
needs of the child, which
are representated in a
comprehensive program.
To reiterate on the
matter of career
education, “one should
not be pushed, but given a
chance to select his
career. It is a most
difficult task to make a
