Tommy also played clarine behind the band, and the Piea Piper's jazzy rendition of “B'riend ship " (Comparable or incompai able to Jimmie Hamrick's ' tjui shine”). I. with Pee Wee Inman get a load of some of the rerord in those two Decca albums o! Bob Pitts. They are titled '‘Chi cago Jazz” and “Wolverine Jazz” Both are strictly on the O. K. side. We stayed up all night lis tening to them, would have stay ed up longer but we didn't wan to miss breakfast. Decca has al so released several other albums the latest being “New Orlean; Jazz . Columbia has also re cently released some albums — four if you must be technical, '•'h.s.u-- feiiture Louis Arm.stronx, Fletcher Henderson, Bessie Smith and Bix Beiderbecke. All of whom are really worth listenint to. Then there is a batch of Count Basie Piano Solos; also well worth your time. More anoi fesie, a few paragraphs down. In the October 15 issue of O 'U'i R-c>iit there wa."! a picture rf Amy Arnell, sister of Ben Stevenson, popular trumpet play er with the Elon Collegiates last year. Amy is now chirping with Tommy Tucker and is a lovely canary incteed. Down to Mebane to hear Jin- rny and the Collegiates last Fri-' Easily the best band in j Elon — haw, haw—catch—* lUlltll LUNCH AND DRINK price , WORK alter three hours of heated dis cussion, that, according to the News and Observer, was not an imitation but a faithful repro duction of the General Assembly. Indeed it was; the delegates squirmed and chatted when the debate was dull, and fifteen or twenty furiously stioutea tor tu ■ loor at the end of a provocative speech. All in all, it was fun, furious and interesting. The ‘Senators' were entertain ed at a banquet at Edenton Stree, Methodist church Friday night a. eight and the delegates recon vened immediately after, for another three hour session. Governor Hoey, Governor-Nom- inate Broughton and Secretary ot State, Thad Eure, addressed a joint session of the assembly on oaturday morning. Each of the •speakers praised the young leg islators for their interest in law- iTiaking and told them to keep up he^r interest and develop into capable leaders of tomorrow. A nail-hour broadcast over W. T. F. Saturday morning fol lowed the Addresses by (_.ovor nor Hoey. This broadcast was from the Senate and at the time of the broadcast a bill on nation defense was being discussed. Final adjournment came at one on Saturday, after completion of all the legislation on the calendar Our six Elon Congressmen; Louit Adair, Henry Wise, A. D. Cobb Joel Scotty, Bob Sellers and Ro\ Mansfield, after bidding farewel' to their short-lived acquaintance' turned their tired, but somewha wiser heads, in the direction o^ Elon, already looking forward tr the assembly nexi year, whPi they will know what to be look ing for and will be prepared, come what may.
