One thing is sure about old “Bobo” and that is he is one of baseball’s most colorful players. Baseball for the Elon College nine got under way last Saturday at Winston-Salem, when the Christians went down before the strong semipro team of Hanes Knitters by the close score of 7-8. This was the first test for the Christians and they looked good in defeat. It also proved they will put up a good fight before any body else can take over the Conference crown which the\- won last year. GOLF: Johnny Bulla’s packin up in the tourney at Asheville has caused much talk, pro ?nd con, about this incident. Some people think that Bull^ should have stayed in the tourney re gardless of how slow Ralph Cul- dahl was playing. Bulla is not liked by many pro golfers and this did not add to the number of his friends. For a professional golf player Bulla showed poor sportsmanship in quitting. TENNIS: Elon’s tenns team opened the season by defeating William and Mary 5-2. Tennis matches bring into mind that fact that Elon has only two courts for some 600 students. Something should be done about this. There is plenty room for more tennis courts here and it is left up to you tennis fans and players to secure more courts for your use.
