Work On New Airport Begun; Elon Pilots Flying At Top Speed Since Spring lias arrived, the “Elon Cadets’’ have really start ed spreading their wings. 'Ihe boys in the C. P. T. class have been flying extra time to make up for the time that they lost when the ■weather was too rough to fly. 'I’he majority of the students have soloed and the others will soon make this step. The ground school has been going at top si>eetl and the students should be ready when the time comes to take the exam. The program must keep going at top speed so they will be through when the Fairchild Air craft factory takes over the Huff man Airport sometime this Spring. Work on the new airport lias been going on for somej'm®? and the field is rapidly taking on the appearance of a motlem air port. The location of the field cannot be revealed in print, for obvious reasons. A three-lane highway has been built connect ing it to the highway. Several of the engines in the lab are being worked over and a new Lycoming engine is being bought this week from Piedmont Avia tion Corporation in Winston-Sa lem. A drill press and many more additions have been made in the line of tools for the lab since the Mechanics course started.
