SATURDAY, MAY 15, 194S MAROON ANDIGOLD REMEMBER? PAGE THREE Freshmen, remember those first weeks of school when the Sophomores put you through your paces and let you know who was who on this campus? What with cries of “Air Raid!” and “All Clear!” and with those stylish haircuts, it was quite a hectic time, wasn’t it? Then to bring everything to a happy ending, there was a party for the freshmen and the King and Queen of the Freshman class were crowned—they were Fred Gray and Mary Denson. m After the freshmen were thorou ghly initiated they were then ready t o take their respectable places in the campus life and its activities. They b egan this by electing Gene Poe president of the class; Margaret Rawls vice-president; Bonnie Davis, secretary; and Hailry Merrow, treasurer. Then there was the time the Marines landed in Elon looking for a Marine base. » - looking at us that we were kinda partial to the air cadets. They should have told by Life went on its humdrum way until the intramural program was started. First there was football with the fCaupa Psi Nu fraternity and the Iota Tau Kappa group fighting for the cup in three scoreless games. Then were those exciting basketball games. The boys had some strong teams such as the Alpha Pi quintet the ^ast E*«tes North North, not forgetting the Sigma Phi team. Remember the exciting game when the Alpha , ^ Pi tgjm topped North North to win the championship? It was nip and tuck in the gl rls’ basketball tournament. Sec ond floor West played through t he season with only one defeat, and then lost the championship to a strong Ladies Hall team.
