Pictured above is the mound staff, which has done a commendable
job this year. Front row. Bill Davis, Bill Anderson, Jack Graham, and Art

NEW COLONNADES
PROVES POPULAR
Lewis H. Lawrence, editor of thii
year’s Colonnades, is receiving con
gratulations on the success of the mag
azine. Sales have now passed the 250
mark, with only about 50 copies re
maining. The price was reduced to
twenty cents this year in order to in
sure wider circulation.
The new Colonnades is twice the
size of former volumes, and contains
several sketches of students and fac
ulty drawn by Shenell Prevatte and
John Taylor.

fellow on his new adventure.
Steve Walker wrested the batting
crown from outfielders Dick York
and Gene Caviness by virtue of his
splendid performance at Lenoir
Khyne last week. The smooth field
ing shortstop and team captain blast
ed two pitchers for a triple, double
and two singles and also included
two walks for a busy night at the
plate.
Johnny Lujack, the terrific ‘T’ man,
is definitely going to be running from
the left halfback position this fall for
the Bears and will see only limited
service at his old quarterback post,
subbing for the great Sid Luckman.
Players have attempted to beg, bor
row or steal the last ball of the game,
but technically the ball becomes the
property of the winning club immed
iately after the final out of the game.
The new lively ball may be the
downfall of many of the present day
top flight twirlers and a threat to the
immortal Babe Ruth’s home run re
cord .... Evidence of this is the
fact that of the fifty odd records set
and tied in the major leagues last
season, at least thirty were produced
by hitters.
In basketball I. T. K. took top hon
ors in regular season play. And now
in softball East Dorm appears to have
things sewed up ... .
Much interest was shown this year
in all intramural sports, but next year
let’s all turn out and make it more
successful. Much credit should go to
Frank Roberts for putting forth much
effort to see that the program was
