Marshall Montgomery, Elon center- fielder, hammered a tremendous 3- run homer in the sixth rack to power the Fighting Christian baseballers to a 3 to 2 victory over the Campbell College Camels at Campbell on April 25th. The victory, which was Elon’s sixth in twenty-two starts for the sea son, was the second of the year over the Camels, for the Christians had also turned back the Camels by a single run in an extra-inning contest on the Elon field. Chris Pecora, Christian freshman, went the route on the mound and gained the nod over Campbell’s Bill Young in a pitching duel. Both hurl ers allowed only four hits during the fray. Elon was down by a 1-0 count in the sixth when Rick Coble opened with a single, and Dempsey Herring advanced him with a single sacrifice. Mike Spillane grounded out, and then Danny Pendry drew an inten tional walk. This set the stage for Montgomery’s 380-foot blast over the left field wall. The line score: R.H.E.
