Sanford and 13 other seniors close out their careers at Elon Saturday night against Gard- ner-Webb. foHT(8K l^STTgti TO T® ^3 Which Type? There are three types of students at Elon Col lege: Those who make things happen, those who watch things happen, and those who never knew anything did happen. Among those in the first category are the club members who work to forge their group into a really worthwhile organi zation, and those who spend long hours, perhaps sacrificing other enjoy able activities. Examples are the boys and girls who participate in sporting e- vents, cheerleaders, and those who enthusiastic ally support their team 3 at these sporting events. Not to be forgotten are the diligent students who strive to bring honor to their school in the Stu dent Government, the Concert Choir, and the Band. These Christians who “make things hap pen” believe that Elon College is only as good a college as they make it. In the second group are the students who have only a hazy idea of and a luke warm interest in the af fairs of their college. I hey may know that there was a football game a few Saturdays ago, but could not tell you the score. I hese students may be long to fraternities or sororities, but about all they do is sit in the meet ings and contribute noth ing. I hose in this group realize that there was a Student (jovcrnment elec tion recently, but they did not bother to vote. Those “never knew it happened” students in the third classification might be called College vegeta bles, You know the type- the students who go to class and just sit and stare. After class they go back to the dorm and stu dy. How about it? Which type are YOU? Woody Harrell Let’s Discuss It Wednesday night, Nov. 12, the Campus Encount er Committee sponsored a Let’s Discuss It Night Elon President, J. Earl Danieley, proposed to the Board of Trustees in their annual fall meeting that each year a graduate from the preceding year be named to a two-year term on the board of trustees. In approving this pro posal, the Board includ ed the stipulation that these recent graduates rank in the top ten per cent of their class and not be allowed to succeed them salves. “The members of the Board are very enthus iastic about this approach which will provide for young alumni to serve as trustees soon after the completion of their college work,” comment ed Dr. Danieley in mak ing the announcement. “We believe that they will be in a position to make an outstanding contribu tion to the overall effec tiveness of the Board.” The first election will be held in April, 1970, at which time a member of the class of 1968 will be elected to a one-year term and a member of the class of 1969 will be elected to a two-year term. In the spring of 1971 a member of the class of 1970 will be elected to begin service on July 1 when the term of the trustee from the class of 1968 expires. This new procedure will not affect the total number of trustees which is 36.
