MAROON AND GOLD Supplement Page 2 March 20, 1970 FOUR FOUND GUILTY (Continued from page 1) testify that they were prejudiced about the case." Pete Fleming, chief justice of the Honor Court, was asked to comment. He said, "I am not at liberty to discuss anything about the case." EDITORIAL: A SMLL VICTORY By Larry,Sage The administration won a small vie- ' tory when the Honor Court found the four Veritas staff m.embers guilty as charged. Guilty of what? Guilty of using so-called obscene words when under recent legal definitions t;his is not true. Were they found guilty for other motives rather than XKMtH actually breaking any laws? Since the plaintiff in the case was the administration, it would appear feas ible to say that the court was favorable to the administnation's wishes and pre judiced against the four students. In other words, it seems they were found guilty, not because they tru|:y were but because it was necessary for the administration to win the case. If the four students were exoner ated, the administxration would .have lost face. Rather than admit they were wrong, they passed the case onto the Honor Court, having the court find the students guilty; thus, indirectly saving J| face. It is shameful that things like this happen...That four students must bear the mark of "guilty’’ in .order that the administration keep its clean face. At least the students were not suspended, but by some grace they reached a light sentence. Maybe this is a siS’' that there is '’sprae hope" for Elon, or is there?
