CLOSE UP (Continued From Front Page) On student life programs, “We’re working on that now, I hope we’ll soon have a closer rapport between faculty, administration and students, concerning student life. Possibly we can have weekly or bimonthly meetings, how often necessary, in order to find out what the student’s perceive to be their problems, their lost opportunities, and what the others perceive In these matters, Once we can identify the problems, we’ll set up little task forces to study these problems and the possible alternatives to them. Then we can take the one that seems to do the best for us in terms of the goals of the institution. I take the position that a college experience should be one of the happiest in ones life ... if that environment isn’t making the student body and faculty happy in working out their own lives and careers then we really need to look around and find out whats bugging them." DIMENSIONS: What is your position on open visitation and drinking on campus? DR. MONCURE: '‘I'm not saying yes or no, I’m saying what I do think is that if we have study committees consisting of students and the different basic constituencies of the college, and a proposal is made to change certain regulations pertaining to drinking or dorm visitation, or some other facet of college life, it seems to me that group ought to study that carefully and then submit a recommendation. This can again be scrutinized and if you can get through that process all the way up then there could be a change... I wouldn’t want to come down here and be the Vice President of Student Affairs with a closed mind, on the other hand I don’t want to come with an open mind. I want to come with a critical mind, and that’s what education is all about; development of critical factors.” DIMENSIONS: How do you find North Carolina living as compared to Virginia living? DR. MONCURE: "More difficult right now because my family is still in Richmond. I am a guest In the president’s home, and have been for this month. He has been wonderful to me and he has a priceless fami ly. It’s really hard to say anything In that regard because I’ve lived all my life in Richmond so I know all the resources of Richmond ... I like North Carolina, the people here are very friendly, I like the students they are terrific, I like them very much and am looking forward to work ing mmore with them.” Steve McCord Willard McCombs As The Bubble Breaks (Continued From or Chris, and they (the viewers) try to determine the means/methods by which the fictional character will resolve his/her dilemma. These people are able to recount, at any given time, the entire story line of five or six of these stories with an ac curacy which would put a com puter to shame. How often have teachers longed for this proficiency In their classes? But beware, for those who try to Interrupt this sacred ritual to ask some unimportant question Front Page) such as, what happened in class today?, shall be confronted with gutteral ndises and death- dealing glances. It is the unpar donable sin to interrupt these shows — the commercials have already claimed that area. So remember folks, the next time you pass by a room and bodies are piled on top of each other, don’t be alarmed — It is soap- opera time! patsy lynch against Uuilford, Because of snow, a match scheduled on the 25th against Catawba was cancelled. Vice-President Mark Mancint, have reviewed the Honor Court system and have revised it so it will function more properly. Expressing concern over re cent Honor Court happenings, the special committee drew up new plans for the court to follow which hopefully will provide a smoother acting Honor Court. Plans for twice a month court sessions on the respective Tuesdays will hopefully promote a more systematic approach, rather than the Irratic scheduling This Week In The Student Senate On the twenty-eighth of March, the Elon College Student Senate met in the senate chambers in the William S.
