winning pitcher for Elon’s
second game, Sunday and the
first game of the season was Lou
Williams while the losing pitcher
was Randy Stoker. Elon won 6-2
In the first game, which Elon lost
14-4, they did not seem to show
the team work as they did in the
second. The Christians chipped
in a total of 11 runs in the first
contest and held the opposing
team to only two. In the second
game the Christians failed to
hold them defensively thus
accounting for West Virginia’s
12-11 victory.
Coach Bobby Jones had mixed
feelings about his opening game
with West Virginia Tech. “I was
real pleased with jhe pitching of
Lou Williams and Randy
Robertson in the first game, but
1 thought that our defense fell
apart in the second game, giving
the victory to them.”
The Christians will return
home on March 20 against
Pembroke State University for a
double header. Game time is
1:00 p.m. at Fairchild Stadium
in Burlington. Elon now holds a
2-2 overall record.
