NBC Happy Family 'Hiesdays 8:30 p.m. Starring: John Larroquette, Christine Baranski Peter and Annie Brennan (Larroquette and Baranski) are would-be empty nesters, if they could only get the kids out of the house. Whoopi Tuesdays 8:00 p.m. Starring: Whoopi Goldberg, Omid Djalili, Wren T. Brown Mavis Rae (Goldberg) is a for mer diva that runs a small hotel in New York with her brother Courtney (Brown), an ex-Enron employee. ABC Threat Matrix Thursdays 8:00 p.m. Starring: James Denton, Kelly Rutherford, Mahershalalhashbaz Ali, Shoshannah Stem The ripped from the headlines story focuses around Special Agent John Kilmer and his elite task force of CIA, FBI and NSA agents fighting for homeland security. The team has the knowl edge and resources to do whatev er it takes to protect the country from terrorists. The only glitch in the plan is Kilmer’s ex-wife, Katie. Faith, flees Hollywood and comes home. The two soon find out that the carpool lane does not always merge with the fast- lane. Her father is the new police chief faced with a sudden outbreak of crimes in this all- American town. Navy NCIS 'Riesdays 8:00 p.m. Starring: Mark Harmon, Sasha Alexander, David McCallum The job of NCIS (Naval Criminal Investigative Service) is to investigate crimes, such as murder, terrorism or espionage, connected with the Navy and Marine Corps. The Handler Fridays 10:00 p.m. Starring: Joe Pantoliano, Anna Belknap, Hill Harper Joe Renato trains undercover FBI agents the tricks of the trade to keep them safe in a job where the smallest mistake is the differ ence between life and death. Joe and the people he trains frequent ly cross the line between fighting crime and committing crime. ESTV “The Phoenix Report” returns as a weekly news broadcast. Everyone’s favorite Elon game show, “Win Stuff,” is produced ten times during the semester. In the mood for sports? ESTV Sports has “Touchdown Phoenix Football” and coverage of foot ball, soccer, basketball, baseball and softball. “Studio E” trans forms the production studio into a coffee house to showcase live stu dent and local music. Showbiz Briefs -Rapper Mystikal won his recent appeal to be allowed lo say the phrase "you gonna suck da lieatl on dem der crawfish;" a phrase which had been previously copy righted by Emanation, Inc for a keychain. The Fifth U.S. Supreme Court of Appeals ruled that the origins of the collo- quiallism could be traced back further than the F'lnanation copyright. Mystikal is not through with court appearances, however, as he pleaded guilty on 'I’hursday to sexual battery. “Fans of “The Lord of the Rings” trilogy will soon be able to catch all three films in theaters. The first two films will be re-released in early December in con junction with the Dec. 17 release of the third film. -MTV’s 2003 Video Music Awards air tonight at 8 p. m., with Missy Elliot, Justin Timberlake, Sean Paul, The White Stripes and Johnny Cash all vying for awards. -Dave Matthews has agreed to play a role in the upcoming film "Because of Winn-Dixie" by 20th Century Fox.
