Broncos defeat Fred Durant’s team in a recent basketball scrimmage (84-76), Pasteur led the Broncos with 19 points, McNeill had 22 for the losers .... Joe Gillespie and Jack Johnson are the leaving grid- ders .... Faisons and Phy. Ed. Majors play for Intramural Champion ship (Both are undefeated .... Pat Raye’s brother, Jim Raye, is the No. 2 quarterback at MSU (Watch him in the Rose Bowl) .... Richard Mosby received a broken metacarpal in a Bronco Scrimmage .... Broncos defeat Pope AFB twice (Alston had 26 pts. in one game and Keys, 30 pts. in the other). 28-12 —St. Aug. Spoils Broncos' Homecoming The St. Augustine’s Falcons spoiled the Broncos’ Homecoming before a crowd of over 4,000. The Broncos took the opening Kick-off and marched 70 yards to paydirt, with fullback Mike Taylor slicing off right tackle from 3 yards out. PAT failed. During the drive, Taylor had a run of 23 yards and Alfred Clark 25 yards. St. Aug. then exploded for 3 touchdown drives of 75, 93, and 53 yards. Leonard MacGill scored the first tally on a one yard plunge. The second drive was climaxed by a 3 yard run by Pat Johnson. St. Aug. added their final score of the first half when Mel Glenn scored from 6 yards out. Jackson ran for the PAT to make the score 20-6. The Broncos bounced back in the third period when Sam Jones drove over from the one. The TD came as a recovered Falcon fumble on their own one yard line, after they dropped a Bronco punt. Bennie Davis recovered the loose football. St. Aug. closed out the scoring when they intercepted one of Sam Jones’ aerials. Robert Thomas pick ed off the wayward-toss at the Bronco 42 and raced it back to the 23. After serveral plays. Bill Jameson scored from the ten, and Jackson ran the PAT to make the final score 28-12. It's How You It Say There were two athletes. One asked his coach if he might smoke while studying. He was told “No.” The other asked his coach if he could study while smoking. HOOK PASS — a kleptomaniac’s major diversion. —Treasury of Sports Humor Elizabeth City Thumps Broncos Elizabeth City’s air attack prov ed too much for the Broncos as the Vikings handed the visiting team a 22-8 score. Elizabeth City scored their TD as Ernest Green hauled in a 27 yard pass from Johnny Walton. PAT failed. The Broncos bounced back when quarterback Sam Jones hit end Joe Gillespie with a TD pass that covered 72 yards. Jones then hit end Alfred Clark for the PAT. The Viking retaliated with Char les Singleton scampering 36 yards to paydirt. Snipes caught the PAT to make the score 14-8 at the end of the first quarter. Neither team reached paydirt again until the fourth quarter when Sam Witherspoon intercepted a Sam Jones’ pass and returned it 27 yards for the score. Streeter ran the extra point to make the score 22-8. The Broncos concluded the sea son with a 1-6 record. —Mel Ott Battle Track News Coach Harold L. Scott has in his grasp the talent for a strong track team for the forthcoming season. Members of the “Posse” returning for indoor track are Cap tains George Sherman and Ricardo Brown, Howard Hopkins, Delano Dubinson and James Moore. Fresh men include Farris Fulford, Henry Terrell, Edward Smith, Edward Winfred, Frank Williams and Wil son .lackson. The indoor track team will jour ney to the 168th Street Armory, at New York City for meets sche duled for December 17 and 28. Ricardo Brown and James Moore will participate in the 300 yd. dash. Dubinson and Sherman will enter the 600yd. dash event. Hopkins, a speedster from Raleigh, N. C., will be participating in the 60 and 70 yd. dashes for the first time. Dubin son, Brown, Sherman, and Moore will combine for the mile relay event. The freshman team will feature Terrell, Smith, Winfred, and Wil liamson in the distance medley. Fulford, Smith, Jackson and Wil liamson will combine for the mile relay. Intramural News The Intramural Flag-Football regular season ended with the Physical Education Majors tied with the Falcons. Both teams have a record of 4-0-1. In the regular season game, the two teams play ed to a 0-0 deadlock. Dr. Davis, director of the program, has set the date of December 4, for the Championship Game. The all - college Cross - Country Run has been scheduled for a later date, A field of over forty will take off from the stadium track. Tro phies will be awarded to the first and second man in.
