Page Four THE VOICE March 1P66 Fayetteville Kappas Host The Fayetteville Alumni Chapter and the Epsilon Beta Chapter of Kappa Alpha Psi will co-host the Middle Eastern Provincial Meet ing scheduled for April 8-10, at the new Downtowner Motel, 146 Rowan Street, Fayetteville, N.C. The Board of Directors has met and the go-ahead signal is definite ly on. Preparations are being made to facilitate the business and the social aspects of this gala affair. The presentation of several awards will be apart of the order of busi ness. Among these will be the “Kappa Man of the Year” and the “Most Outstanding Under-graduate Chapter”. The social aspects of this festive occasion will be en hanced by the “Meet Your Date Social”, “Provincial Banquet” and “Provincial Ball”. Thomas E. Ashe, Jr., the Pole- march of the Middle Eastern Pro vince, has stressed the overall im portance of attendance and par ticipation of both the graduate and the under-graduate brothers throughout the province. This will aid the business meetings to be more interesting and profitable. Expected attendance for this meeting is hoped to reach a new high. Plans are being executed to make this occasion a most mem orable one. The host chapters and the Sil houettes of the Fayetteville Alumni are busy at work to help make the delegates and their guests wel come and happy. A hearty measure of pleasure is assured to each through the good old “Kappa Spirit”. The host chapters ask that the brothers join with them in quest of that noble Kappa Alpha Psi born in the minds and hearts of the noble founders. Jacquie V. Whitfield Pink and Green On Parade The young ladies of the Delta Alpha Chapter of the Alpha Kappa Alpha Sorority have made tremend ous achievements in the areas of beauty and scholarship. Some of our lovely girls are reigning queens here on campus. Helen Moore, a lovely petite lass, was Homecoming queen for 1965-66. The very chic Eugenia Baldwin is Alpha Phi Alpha Fraternity Sweet heart. The Kappa Sweetheart is the vivacious, debonaire Donna Newman. Ann Carter is the statues que Queen of the Sphinx Club. In the area of scholarship, the Alpha Kappa Alpha Sorority ex cels. Appearing on the Dean’s List for the First Semester of 1965-66 are the following: Linda Louise Bailey, Janie Elizabeth Battle, Car olyn Ann Cannady, Ann Beatrice Carter, Mary Grace Manning, Eula Fay Marriner, Bettye Ann Smith, and Jacquelyn Vandeliah Whit field. Miss Manning and Miss Smith graduated at the end of the First Semester. They have both been placed in school systems in North Carolina. Coming events include the Mid- Atlantic Regional Conference to be held at the Sir Walter Hotel in Raleigh, North Carolina. The sor ority has selected Ann Carter and Jacquie Whitfield as delegates to the conference. Donna Newman and Jacquie Whitfield will model two of the outfits worn on line. Our Founders Day Program was held in the J. W .Seabrook Audi torium on Sunday, February 27. The speaker for this program was Mrs. LeVerne Byrd Smith, assist ant professor of Education and supervisor of Student Teaching at Virginia State College. Your AKA Reporter—JVW Zeta Nev\^s When the school term began, the Zetas had anticipated making this a successful year. With an addi tion of four members — Carol Moore, Oprea Williams, Carolyn Walton and Carolyn Mclver — we are continuing our progress to ward perfection in womanhood and success in our every endeavor. The Thirteenth annual Zetalite Ball, which is sponsored by the Zeta Phi Beta Sorority and the Phi Beta Sigma Fraternity, was held in the Lilly Gymnasium on February 26. There were approxim ately forty-seven girls participat ing in the Ball. All proceeds from this Ball will be used for scholar ships. In addition to this activity, the Zetas celebrated their Finer Womanhood Day on March 6, at 4:00 p.m. in the Seabrook Audi torium The speaker for this occas ion was Mrs. Geneva B. Johnson Alpha Phi Alpha The brothers of Epsilon Zeta Chapter of Alpha Phi Alpha Fra ternity, Inc. greet their most re cent additions: Herman Lewis, Roy Monroe and Justis Reives. These brothers are all typical Alpha men. The Chapter looks forward to welcoming the national president of Alpha Phi Alpha, Dr. Lionel Newsome, to our campus on April 24, 1966. We are certain that Bro ther Newsome will inspire all who go to Seabrook Auditorium to hear him. Epsilon Zeta is very proud of the five brothers who are doing student teaching this semester. They are Johnny Covington, Don ald Dixon, Leo Edwards, Roy Mon roe and Clyde Wooten. The Chap ter also congratulates Leo Edwards, Justis Reives and Little Brother Booker T. Keyes for making the Dean’s List. We are now making plans for a spring social and for the best of the best probation activities, we—in advance — invite you to take part in our social and to care fully observe our probation line. The appointments are: Mrs. Jeanette Braggs now working in the Business Office; Mrs. Braggs received her training at Wayne State University. Miss Luverne Kirkland, who attended Florida A. and M. University, is working as secretary in the Office of the Division of Education, and Miss Dorothy Crute serves as secre tary to Dr. Joan Corbett, Director of the 1966 Summer English In stitute. Miss Crute is a graduate of the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill. The entire College Family welcomes you. Omegas On The Move On behalf of the Delta Gamma Chapter of the Omega Psi Phi Fra ternity, Inc., we take great plea sure in congratulating the brothers of Delta Gamma for their scholarly achievements during the past sem ester. The areas of paramount achievement include National Teachers Examination scores. The Dean’s Honor List, and a Research Grant from the National Science Foundation. Brother Sherry C. Spencer earned a score on the Common Examination which now is the second highest made here at FSC since the initiating of the award for highest score above 700 (given annually by Dr. M.S. Frier son). Brothers Cecil Ramsey (who took the NTE at end of his junior year) and George M. Langford re ceived scores which ranked high among the scoring. Five Brothers of Delta Gamma succeeded in earn ing “B” averages the first semester of the 1965-1966 academic year. These brothers were Delano Dubin- son, Allen R. Elliott, George M. Langford, William C. Swift, and Sherry C. Spencer. Mel Ott Battle, a Lampado of the Omega Psi Phi Fraternity, also earned a “B” aver age this past semester. Brother William Swift, in addition to mak ing the Dean’s List, received a scholarship grant from The Nation al Science Foundation to do re search work. Among our philanthropic events for this year, the Omega Psi Phi Fraternity sponsored a “Can-Can” dance for the purpose of obtaining food for the needy families of Fay etteville. We were successful in securing over 400 cans of food. Recently Delta Gamma elected New Officers.
