Turner and Officers of NADSA Group Song Key figures in the NADSA Conference end preparations for tomorrow's opening. Mr. E. T. Battle, Miss Winifred Johnson, and Chairman, Miss L. P. Turner expect a convening group of around two-hundred. The NADSA Conference will get underway tomorrow at FSC with Miss Lois P. Turner serving as chairman. The NADSA sessions will include the following areas: 1. Playwriting 2. Acting and Directing 3. Production techniques 4. Discussion and Debate 5. Speech Education including Speech Correction 6. Educational Values of the Various Speech Arts, Choral Speaking, Creative Dramatics. Provisions will be made for at least one student sponsored pro gram and for some programs of special significance and interest to those working in Speech and Dramatics in the elementary school and the high school. The sessions will be confined to two in the morning and two in the afternon, leaving time for discussion periods. Playwriting — Sponsored annually in accordance with the rules outlined by Professor S. Randolf Edmonds for the contest conducted in 1949-50. Awards (playwriting contest) First Prize $25.00 and production in NADSA Festival STAFF MEMBERS IN PRESS CONTEST THE VOICE has eight staff members entered in the 1966-67 Charlotte Observer and New's College Press Awards. Best Editorial entries are Laura Gilmore, “A Memorandom and Challenge”; Mattie Cogdell, “It’s Nice to be Important,” and Ernestine McKoy, “What’s With the New School Law?” In the News Story category are James Stachouse, “Toward Speed Reading”; Betty Cooper, “Neighborly FSC Professors,” and Rowena Peterson, “The Dedication Story.” For the Best Feature Story, Betty Cooper submitted, “And Then She Prayed”; Bar bara Myrick, “Autumn,” and Laura Gilmore, “The Library: The Heart of the College.” Johnnie Daniels, in the Best Sports Story area, entered, “Golden Bulls Top Bron cos.” The Voice is entered in the Best College Newspaper, under 1,500 enrollment.
