PAGE 8 THE VOICE FSU GIRLS^ BASKETBALL TEAM WIN 16 STRAIGHT CIAIM CROWN IN GREENSBORO The Fayetttevllle State University basketball Broncoettes won 16 games in a row for an unde feated season and claimed the Elizabeth S. Dowdy Invitational Tourney Championship at Greens boro, NjC.in February. In winning the championship, the Broncoettes downed Catawba College, 44-42. Gail Cameron was the leading scorer with 16 points followed by Barabara Smith 13. Miss L.J. Taylor, head coach of the team, said “This Is one of the greatest teams I have been associated with because they never stopped trying and went all the way.” Mrs. Mary K. Robertson also assisted the team as coach while Miss Taylor was away on an emergency and was with the team when they won the championship at Greensboro.
