Henderson) The theme of Fayetteville State University’s 1973 Homecoming Weekend was “Homecoming 1973: A Dream Becomes A Reahty”. The Homecoming activities began on Monday night, October 7, with the Coronation of Miss Homecoming, Lettie Williams. The Coronation was completed with Chocolate Funk providing music for the dance that followed. On Tuesday night, The Annual Freshman Talent Show produced an even greater amount of Homecoming spirit. The Freshmen gave a dynamite performance and exhibited an abundance of talent. Many Broncos expressed the belief that it was the best talent show they had seen in a long time. The Talent Show was followed by a dance on the block in front of the Rudolph Jones Student Center. The Majors provided the Bronco family with gusto at the Utopia Lounge on Wednesday night. Thursday night, the fabulous Don Reed of the WIDU radio station in Fayetteville hosted a record hop in Lily’s Gymnasium. Friday festivities began with a pep rally, bonfire and a bury the Rams funeral. At 12 o’clock the annual pre-dawn dance began with music by Satan’s Era and the Soul Serenaders. The Homecoming Parade began Saturday morning and just as expected, it was one of the greatest events ever held. It in cluded floats, official cars, gorgeous young ladies and marchine units. ^ All of the Bronco family and fans waited impatiently for the kick-off fw the Homecoming football game between the Fayet teville State University Broncos and the Winston-Salem University Rams. The Broncos defeated the Rams 14-12 in the homecoming thriller. Lovely Miss Lettie Williams, a native of Henderson, reigned over the Homecoming festivities. She is a junior elementary education major. Mrs. Lucille Phillips of Washington, D.C. was crowned “Miss Alumni” for 1973 during the half-time ceremonies. Still the Bronco Homecoming Spirit was rising, with the anticipations of being entertained by the Chi-lites and Bloodstone. Unfortunately, Bloodstone did not show, but Ronnie Mudd did! TheChi-lites, just as expected, did a beautiful job. HAVING A GOOD TIME AT HOMECOMING game recently are the Student Center Canteen employees. FSU won over Winston- Salem State University, 14-12. The Canteen workers are Barbara .lonkins, Miriam Oliver, Mary Boykins, Eva Reed, and Lillian Drake. f! DON REID YOUR LEADER rode in the FSU Homecoming Parade.
