Page 4 VOICE FRIDAY, OCTOBER 18, 1974 HELEN OLIVER VETERAN“ 1974-75 f: MISS VETERAN at Fayetteville State University is “BLACK, BEAUTIFUL AND BRAINY”. This lovely FSU sophomore coed is Helen Oliver of Fayetteville, N.C. and she was chosen by the Veteran’s Club on the FSU campus as their queen for 1974-75. Helen is an early childhood education major and wants to teach when she finishes FSU. rr A NIGHT AT "MISS VETERAN’S BALL by Doris Daniels The event of the Veteran’s Ball was most fascinating and atmospheric. The Ballroom was decorated with stars hanging from the ceiling of the dance floor. Dinner was served buffet style. The menu consisted of country fried chicken, spiced Ham, a choice of green beans or creamed corn, potatoes with gravy, rolls and coffee to drink. Music was provided by the Emperors who played appropriate dinner music. The presentation of Miss Veteran, Helen Oliver was given by the President. She was beautifully robed in a royal blue halter type gown highlighted with white. Miss Oliver was crowned by Tyrone Williams. After being crowned Miss Oliver thanked everyone and hoped that the ball would be enjoyable for all. Expressing her feelings toward being Miss Veteran, Miss Oliver said she was happy but nervous. The former Miss Veteran, Miss Mildred Moore was recognized. Dinner was completed and the tone of music changed for dancing. The ball was thoroughly enjoyed by all and I am sure everyone is looking forward to the Veteran’s Ball next year. JOIN THE VOICE STAFF TODAY!!! Broncos Look Good All Photos by John B.
