The guest speaker for the program was Albert Bryant. Bryant is renowned for being the first black appointed as a Legal Research Assistant to the Congressional Research Service, Washington, D.C. Bryant spoke on the role of blacks in politics. He used himself as an example when describing the difficult road one must trod in order to achieve the least amount of success. He was appointed to the committee after many long months of persistent inquiry. During his appointment, Bryant helped prepare the yearly report of the Separation of Power Subcommittee. He also assisted in the research work done in connection with the Watergate hearing. Bryant mentioned that the greater rewards did not stem from the actual work itself. The job gave him new insights about pursuing a political career and added new dimensions to his heart and soul. This ambitious Fayetteville native would also like to serve in the North Carolina Legislature. After having investigating all the wrong doings, bad acts, and corruption done by the Nixon Ad ministration, he has become more aware of the need for better politicians...and it is his goal to be one of the best. Marion Harris, the first black appointed to the Board of Transportation in the state of North Carolina, was also present during the program. SUPPORT THE BROIVCOS!
