After the first two weeks of the CIAA season, a lot of big surprises have emerged from the football ranks. Hampton Institute has won its first two games defeating Winston-Salem State at home and dropping Shaw University on the road for a 2-0 league mark. Of course Norfolk State is also undefeated in two outings having won over non-conference for Elon College on the road and FSU with a 1-0 CIAA mark and a 2-0 overall record. He was chosen as all CIAA shortstop and Conference Most Valuable Player for the 1975 baseball season. George has proclaimed the season a success in more ways than one. “We won more games and there was such good sport smanship among the players,” he said. George is a native of Fayetteville and says he can’t think of a place he’d rather be. He possesses a universal belief in people, enjoys meeting them, and conversing on various subjects. In his opinion, the women at FSU are friendly as well as charming. George credits a large portion of his success to his hi^ school coach, W. J. Carver at E. E. Smith High School. His main goal is cited as being able to play professional baseball. To him, this would come close to producing that same joy he expressed when he watched Hank Aaron hit his seven-hundred third homerun. How does he spend his time now that baseball season is over? He plays in the FSU marching band, does a lot of “rapping”, and visits his favorite haunts-Seabrook Park and of course, FSU crease over last year. “This increase of 153 students over last year’s figures,” LaHuffman said, “with the majority of the students being listed as in state.” LaHuffman said counties in North Carolina with the highest representation are Cumberland, Bladen, Samp son, Robeson, Onslow, Anson, Craven, Scotland, Halifax, Harnett, Pitt, Wayne, and Edgecombe. There was also an in crease in the representation from out-of-state, with most of the students coming from Illinois, Florida, Virginia, South Carolina, Pennsylvania, New York and Washington, D.C. There has been con siderable growth in enrollment over the past five years, LaHuffman said, with rapid enrollment over the past two years. LaHuffman also said that an effort is being made to recruit more non-black students. Olin Little, a white, was recently appointed as a recruiter to the Office of Admissions to help “generate interest and increase the non black applications at FSU.” campus.
