(FSU Photo by Henderson) FSU NAMES ALLEN TO HEAD NEW CRiJniNAL JUSTICE PROGRAM Dr. Charles “A” Lyons, Jr., Chancellor of Fayetteville State University announced the receipt of $65,000 federal grant from the Law En forcement Assistance Ad ministration (LEAA), Washington, D. C., for the development of a new Criminal Justice Program at FSU. According to the Chan cellor, the 18-month grant is designed basically for plan ning curricula and develop ment of Criminal Justice specialty Tracks at F. S. U. A Director, Mrs. Jean nette M. Allen, was appointed effective January 1, the Chancellor stated, and has begun work. A Chicago, lUinois native, Mrs. Allen comes to Fayet teville State University from Kentucky State University, Frankfort, Kentucky, where she served as Assistant Professor in the Criminal JuatioA. D^Dart-^ ment. Mrs. Allen did un dergraduate work at Central State University, Wilberforce, Ohio, and completed the M. S. Degree in Correctional Psychology at Chicago, Illinois. She has done further study at the University of Illinois, School of Social Work; Ohio State University; and Indiana University of Pennsylvania. Her previous emplojroent experiences include Assistant Professor, Kentucky State University, Assistant Professor, Indiana University of PAnsylvania; Probation Officer-Cook County Juvenile Court,. Chicago, Illinois; Psychiatric Social Worker, Ohio Youth Commission; and Child Welfare Worker, Columbus, Ohio. Mrs. Allen is affiliated professionally with the following organizations, Lamda Alpha Epsilon- American Criminal Justice Association, Cook County Probation Officer’s Association, National Council of Crime and Deliquency, American Correctional Association, Pennsylvania Association on Probation and Parole and Correction, In diana County Mental H^lth Association, and the National Association of Blacks in Criminal Justice. On her appointment, Mrs. Allen said: “I am quite pleased to accept the challenge at FSU and hope that our efforts might lead to the development of a Bac calaureate program in the Criminal Justice field. During the next six weeks, orientation will be held for students and faculty regarding the im plementation of the program. Some of the courses will be offered as workshops- Mrs. J.
