PAGE 4 THE VOICE FEBRUARY-MARCH, 1976 REID ROSS ROTC DRILL UNIT TAKES FIRST PLACE HONORS At FSV ‘*ROTC Day*’ Drills For Local Schools Reid Ross High School took first place in Junior ROTC drills for area high school ROTC units April 2 at the Fayetteville State University athletic field. Col. Matthew Peach, Commander of the FSU Air ROTC Detatchment and host for the event, said that the event went quite well and it is hoped that it will become an annual affair. The winners were in the following categories; Best Armed Unit Drill Competition-Reed Ross High Best Unarmed Unit Drill Competition-Seventy First High Most Precise and Original- (Drill Competition)-Reed Ross High Best Overall in Drills-Reid Ross High Field Events-Seventy First High(first) and Cape Fear High (second) PROMOTED TO COLONEL-Lt. Col. Matthew H. Peach, Director of Fayetteville State University’s Air Force ROTC program, was recently promoted to the rank of Colonel, effective March 1,1976. His wife, Ella, admires some of his medals and smiles approvingly. Peach, a native of Columbia, Missouri, has headed the AFROTC unit at FSU since May 1974.
