Michael G. Woodcock, a
senior at Fayetteville State
University, was notified
recently by the National Rifle
Associaiton that he has been
selected as a member of the
1976 NRA All American First
Team, Pistol. In addition to
recognizing Woodcock’s
shooting skill and con
tributions to the sport, this
designation qualifies him to
participate in the tryouts for
the 1976 Olympics. Woodcock
began firing in collegiate
pistol competition while a
cadet at the Air Force
Academy during the 1971-72
academic year and has
continued to compete since
becoming a student at
Fayetteville State University
in 1974.
In each of his first three
years of collegiate com
petition he placed high in the
National Individual Cham
pionships. In his freshman
year, (1971-72) he ranked 4th
in International and 9th in
Conventional courses of fire;
in 72-73 he ranked 7th in In
ternational; and 73-74 he
ranked 11th in International
and 8th in the Conventional
courses of fire. The current-
year’s ranking is still
unknown.
Woodcock stated that the
coaching and other assistance
rendered to him by the Ad-
vanced Marksmanship
Training unit headed by
Captain Johnson at Fort
Bragg has made an important
contribution to his
achievement.
Mr. Woodcock has been
the Commander of the
AFROTC Cadet Corps at FSU
this spring and will be com
missioned a Second
Lieutenant in the Air Force on
May 15, 1976. He will be
