O’Brien, Lawrence F., NO
FINAL VICTORIES,
Doubleday, 1972.
Lawrence F. O’Brien has
been hailed as the leadeing
political pro of our time-an
organizational genius whose
talents have been enlisted by
every Democratic
presidential nominee since
John F. Kennedy in 1960.
In this book, O’Brien tells
it all--the joys and triumphs of
the Kennedy and Johnson
years, the anguish and
frustration of the years that
foUowed. NO FINAL VIC
TORIES is a book that must
not be missed by anyone who
cares about what American
politics has been in the past
two decades~or what it can
and should be in the future.
Rapoport, Daniel, INSIDE
THE HOUSE, Follett
Publishing Company, 1975.
This book is an irreverent
guided tour through the House
of Representatives, from the
days of Adam Clayton Powell
to those of Peter Rodino. It is
the fascinating study of the
House, its weaknesses and
strengths, its successes and
failures, and its somber and
silly moments.
The author makes the
House come alive and jump up
and down and demand more
attention in the future.
Sarnoff, Jane,WHAT? A
RIDDLE BOOK, Scribner
Publishing Company, 1974.
This book contains over
500 riddles covering politics,
space, economics, philosophy,
natural science, and
elephantology, including a
series of riddles in code.
Stambler, Irwin, EN
CYCLOPEDIA OF POP
ROCK AND SOUL, St.
Martin’s Press, 1974.
This is the most
complete encyclopedia of the
world of popular music in
existence, and it brings
together in some 500 entries
all the elements of todays pop
music scene.
Stirling, Nora, YOUR
MONEY OR YOUR LIFE,
The Bobbs-Merrill Company,
Inc, 1974.
Fascinating as well as
practical, this book is detailed
account of crime and
criminals-exposing the way
they operate all over the
country, in cities, surburbs
and rural communities, in
subways and in banks and on
telephones, what they look for,
and how they set it up-and
tells what you can do to
prevent being their target.
Yerby, Frank, THE
DAHOMEAN, Dial Press,
1971.
Frank Yerby, the master
storyteller, reconstructs the
last, glorious world of a great
African nation in the early
nineteenth century.
THE DAHOMEAN is an
intense, intimate story of th
warted love and passion, but it
is also the tale of a great
people, a great culture,
vanquished by greed, the
slave trade, and the en
croachments of destructive
colonialism.
Yerby, Frank, THE ODOR OF
SANCTITY, Dial Press, 1965.
Alaric, the central
character, is is a never-ending
struggle to know himself and
to define his relationship with
God. He is loved and hated by
both men and women who
mistrust his simple kindness
and misunderstand his almost
indefinable attractiveness.
Alaric is lead by force of
circumstance and at times his
own free will to stain his hands
with the blood of his fellows, to
betray the woman he loves, to
do horrible battle with friend
and foe alike, yet he never
loses the vision of his youth, a
saintly vision of a more
perfect world, free of his own
vices and virtues.

The Fayetteville State
University Pre-School
Laboratory has achieved
another milestone in its
program.
The Pre-School
Laboratory has recently been
licensed by the State of North
Carolina Child Day Care
Office, and the Department of
Human Resources to enroll
two year olds in its child
development program.
There are sixteen (16)
vigorous, energetic, and
enthusiastic two year olds in
the developmental program.
These two year olds are in
volved in a child centered
curriculum which is designed
to enhance the development of
two year olds physically,
intellectually, emotionally
and socially. The background,
needs, interests, and abilities
of each child is considered in
planning a carefully prepared
learning environment.
The environment is made
up of learning centers which
include housekeeping, block
building, science, language
arts, mathematics,
manipulative art, music,
listening, and special in
terests. These centers are
highly concentrated toward
developing self caring skills,
social living, increasing the
vocabulary, and the
development of fine and gross
motor skills.
Cooking, sand-water play,
and swimming bring extra
smiles to the two year olds.
