FStJ Celebrates Centennial Homecoming
The Centennial Homecoming of Fayet
teville State University was celebrated the
week of October 24-30. Fayetteville State is
the second oldest state-supported institution
of higher learning in North Carolina. The
week long activities which featured dances,
student and faculty talent shows, coronation
balls, parade and the football homecoming
contest between Fayetteville State University
and Elizabeth City State was enjoyed by
Fayetteville State University students,
alumni and friends.
The University which was founded in 1877
is celebrating its Centennial Year with the
theme “One Hundred Years of Academic
Excellence: A Past to Remember, A Present
to Behold, A Future to Mold.” The Fayet
teville State Homecoming Queen, Miss Joy
Van Hook reigned over the festivities.
There was a Homecoming Show at the
Cumberland County Memorial Arena
featuring the B.T. Express, New Birth, and
the Brothers Johnson.
Saturday, October 30th saw the
Homecoming Parade, and the Homecoming
Football Game.
A grand time was had by all...
