JVC Announces Nationwide Student Video Competition US JVC Corp., a leading manufacturer of electronics equipment for home and pro fessional use, is sponsoring a nationwide video competition for students in colleges, gradu ate schools and art schools. The JVC Student Video Festival, announced by Richard F. O’Brion, Executive Vice Presi dent, will recognize and encourage the efforts of young men and women aspiring to be video artists, news or entertain ment producers and corporate communicators. Entrants are invited to submit taped programs in any or all of the contest categories: docu mentary, creative and news short. Each program should be no more than 20 minutes long. and should be accompanied by an entry form. All entries must be submitted by December 1, 1980. A distinguished panel of judges will review all entries. The three prize winners in each category will be announced at a special screening and awards ceremony in December. Prizes will include VCR’s, cameras and scholarships. American soldiers are assigned to capture an Italian town but find that they must join in a wine festival if the Italians are to surrender. Monday, November 17 Theatre of Blood Vincent Price plays Edward Lionhart, a glorious but demented classical actor, who refused the best actor award by eight London critics, hatches a grisly plot to do them in by playing for keeps eight great death scenes from Shakes. CAST: Vincent Price, Diana Rigg, Ian Hendry, Jack Hawkins. Thursday, November 27 Davy Crockett Indian Scout A thrill-packed drama of frontier days tells of a huge wagon train of pioneers and its army escort who are hindered by the threat of hostile Indians. The rugged Indian scout and his Indian companion seek to uncover the identity of a spy amongst the pioneers. CAST: George Montgomery. Wednesday, Decembers Brian’s Song This Emmy Award winning film is based on the true story of the deep friendship between Gale Sayers, black halfback for the Chicago Bears and his white teammate, Brian Piccolo. CAST: James Caan, Billy Dee Williams. Thursday, December 11 Dark Star The time is mid twenty-first century. The place is deep space, where the scoutship DARK STAR has been cruising for 20 years. Its mission: to seek and destroy “unstable” planets that will prove hazardous to ships sent to colonize other worlds from earth. CAST: Dan O’Bannon, Brian Narelle.
