The candidates seeking
election for Miss Fayetteville
State University 1985-86 are
Dianne Cooper, Kim Jeffries,
Ruth King, and Patrena
Sawyer. The candidate chosen
to reign as the queen will be
representing the university not
only for beauty, but also for
poise, personality, character,
and communicative skills.
Why would you like to be
Miss FSU?
Cooper: I would like to be
Miss FSU not for the honor
that being Miss FSU would
bring to me, but my bringing
honor to Miss FSU.
Jefferies: I would like to be
Miss FSU because I think I
could represent the university
in a positive light, plus I think it
is an office most females would
love to hold.
King: I would like to be Miss
FSU so I can be a positive role
model for students to follow. I
want them to be proud of FSU
and carry that bronco spirit to
those in their community.
Sawyer: I feel like I could
better support my school as
Miss FSU.
What advice would you give
an incoming freshman on how
to succeed at FSU?
Cooper: First of all, 1 would
say academics come first, do
not let anyone tell you
differently. Also, 1 would tell
them to keep their priorities
intact.
Jefferies: My advice to them
would be to set their priorities,
putting academics first and
other things second.
King: I would advise
freshmen to think before they
act. Be a leader not a follower
and most importantly do the
best they can do. This
opportunity to obtain a higher
education may not be here
tomorrow.
Sawyer: I would advise them
to take the time to get to know
the system, so that if something
goes wrong they would know
where to go, and who to go to
for advice.
SGA Vice-President Candidate 1985
By Wesley Person
The candidate in the election
for Vice-President of the
Student Government Associa
tion is Eugene Johnson.
Although there is only one
candidate, this does not mean
that his views should be
ignored. “The Voice”
interviewed Johnson with the
following questions:
Why did you choose to run
for SGA Vice-President?
By Larry Hilton
Since the past few elections,
the candidates running for
Miss Rudolph Jones Student
Center (RJSC) have been
missed in the “Voice” for
unknown reasons, but this
issue will hopefully bring a new
change and respect to all
running candidates, especially
Miss RJSC. The candidates in
the election for position as Miss
RJSC are Michele Ballard,
Saundra D. Miller, and Vickie
Kai Watson. Unfortunately
“The Voice” was only able to
interview Ballard and Watson.
Johnson: I chose to run for
the office of Vice-President
because as a student, I am
greatly concerned about the
needs of students. I beheve I
could enhance the total student
body by representing them.
Also, I have been actively
involved in leadership roles
since high school. During my
junior and senior years, I was
afforded the opportunity of
having served in various
capacities to include, president,
vice-president, treasurer, and
representative of various clubs
and organizations.
What makes you qualified
for the job?
Johnson: The experience
gained has served as an
inspiration to want to reach for
higher heights through
participation in collegiate
activities. I believe that I can
represent the student body
effectively for the 1985-86
academic year.
As Vice-Presient, what do
you view as the main priorities?
Johnson: My future for this
office will include supporting
the president and staff of the
SGA, representing students on
campus matters that affect
them, attending meetings that
will be meaningful for student
awareness, participate in yearly
activities that affect students,
and serving as liason person to
enhance or develop a more

asset to the Student Body as
Why do you want to be Miss
RJSC?
Watson: I would like to be
Miss RJSC because it would
give me the opportunity to
serve the student body. It
would give me the opportunity
to get to know the student body
and for them to get to know me,
and to broaden my horizons of
the university itself. My main,
reason for wanting to be Miss
RJSC is to represent FSU
proudly in any possible
productive way.
Ballard: I feel that I can be an
well as the RJSC because I am
well aware of the activities, and
I have volunteered my services
for two years with such
activities in planning them.
Also the center needs to be
recognized more and I feel that
with my input, the center will
have more recognition.
What would your relation
ship between you and the
students by like?
Watson: My relationship
between myself and the
students would be much more
meaningful. I would dedicate
myself to the betterment of the
university by maintaining pride
and respect for FSU.
Ballard: My relationship
should be one of leadership. To
let the students come to me
with any problems, and I would
do my best to help correct them
by working with the SGA.
What input or improvement
can you make in the student
center?
Watson: The positive
attributes that I would like to
share with the students at FSU
meaningful relationship
between the administration,
faculty, and students.
What will be your primary
objective to fulfill?
Johnson: I believe that the
position of Vice-President of
SGA is challenging, yet a
rewarding experience. If
elected, I will attempt to
continue the tradition of
“quality” representation for the
life blood of this institution—
THE STUDENTS!
are my positive attitudes
towards life and my spirit for
FSU, all which comes
naturally. Most of all I would
like to contribute my
dedication in a more positive
way making myself available to
assist the students in the best
way that I possibly can.
Ballard: I could improve
things such as having some
kind of activity to make the
students want to stay on
campus more on the weekends,
and most of all make the
students proud of FSU by
uplifting spirit and activities.

Business Manager 1985
By Wesley Person
To give students a better perspective on the candidate of Business Manager, The
Vocie questioned this year's candidate, Kevin Evans.
Person: Why do you want to become Business Manager?
Evans: I want to become Business Manager because it will enable me to become
more aware of the use of the student activity money, and with this knowledge 1 can
relay it to my fellow students.
Person: What is your primary objective?
Evans: My primary objective is to help create a network of communication
between students and administration. Secondly, I want to assist in creating an
atmosphere which is not only conducive to academic excellence but to moral and
social acceptibility.
