(who recently returned to finish his degree) should be given more time on television to deliver their message of the balance between education and sports. For too many of the 1.5 million high-school and 30,000 college athletes life after competitive sports is often empty and alienating. It is a national scandal with dimen sions that are robbing our youth of much of their, and our nation's, potential. Surely the time has come when universities can assure that the promises made to our student athletes are actually kept. Fayetteville Observer page 4A. Thursday.
