Miss Josephine Russell was cho sen as the chapter's Sweetheart and was crowned “Miss Omeca” October 10. 1952. and enjoyed the many activities which included a specially-prepared dinner of her own choice at Arthur’s Sea Food Grill on Person Street. A float representing the Greek letter Delta was entered in the Homecoming parade which was held. November 14, 1952. .The chapter acted as ho.st for Choir Appears In New Auditorium The choir of Fayetteville State Teachers College, consisting of fifty-five voices, had the honor of being the fiist organization to ap-1 pe^r in the new auditorium on Sunday, December 14, at 4;00 p. m. when it gave its annual Christ-; mas concei t. The ne.v auditnrium.j recently completed at a cost of $18.5,000, enhanced the rendition of a series of selections from Pchaikowsy’s “Nutcraker Suite.” At the piano during the concert was Mi.ss l.oran Pitt, a sophomore troni Tarbmo, North Caroliiia. As special guests, the menibeis of the choir appeared at Fort Bragg, giving a program sponsor ed by the Kiwanis Club and broadcast over a local station. The impression made was so great that during Religious Emphasis Week -hey were requested to provide the music for a Sunday morning ser vice at Chapel Number Eight at Fort Bragg. The music for the annual ‘"State Teachers College Day” program, jiven this year at the First Bap- list Chuich, was also furnished by our choir. Aware of its heavy schedule, with appearances in such place.-; a.s Tarboro, Wilson, and Goldsboro (in North Carolina), together with i spring tour provided for it by the alumni, the members are vorkiiig continuously to make this /ear’s choir the greatest in the history of the school. During National Book Week, November lG-23. 1952, the mem bers of the Delta Xi Chapter pre pared a bulletin board on display in our library, using the theme “Not Learning to Read, but Read ing to Learn.” Our chapter pre sented the Charles Waddell Ches- nutt Library with a revised edi tion of the Holy Bible. On November 25, 1952 our fresh men girls rushed to the recreation room of Bickett Hall in short dresses, pigtails, socks, ribbons and bows to be entertained at a “Kiddie Party” given in their hon or.
