tant dates to be published every Monday between the
publication of The Broncos’ Voice. Assisting Sharon will
be Judy Allen and Retonia Cotton. So, if you have any in
fo. to get out, a dance, meetings, or anything of interest,
contact: Ms. Carr or any newspaper staffmember at the of
fice. Ph.# 486-1357. Sharon invites you to help her make
this new idea a success.
On the production side of the staff, there are two
Associate Production Managers, Pre-Deadline and Post-
Deadline. Mary Blythers and James Raynor fill these posi
tions. These production managers report to the Managing
Editor. Working for the production managers are several
reporters. These people are the backbone of the staff.
Without them, there would not be a staff. These reporters
are: Carol Graham, Wanda Hamm, Sharon Bell, Judy
Allen, Retonia Cotton, Clifford Duncan, Charles McClen
don, Sarah Malloy, Sharon Carr and Todd Parker.
So, anytime you have a complaint, of heaven forbid, a
compliment, you now know all our staff members. Just
talk to any staff member; they will be more than glad to
handle your problem. Just stop by our office located in the
Student Center or call us at Ph.# 486-1357, or, if you’re in
terested, join the staff and be a part of the team that makes
things happen.

past. Now the administration knows how a portion of the
students feel. We want the holiday.
Let’s review the accomplishments of Dr. King. The
Reverend Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr., born in 1929,
dedicated his life to winning equality for all people. Dr.
King was awarded the Nobel Peace Prize in 1964 for his
leadership in the Qvil Rights Movement. Dr. King was
assassinated in Memphis, Tennessee in 1968.
On a sadder note, in this day and age, is the fact that
racism still exists. Just recently, civil rights’ marchers in
Georgia were met by people (I use the term loosely) who
threw rocks and bottles. Some of the aggressors were
reported to be members of the Ku Klux Klan. In New York
three black men walking in a predominantly white
neighborhood were chased with bats. One of the black
men, in the course of fleeing for his life, was chased into the
path of an oncoming vehicle and died.
What does all of this say about the state of the United
States? It says that racism is alive and well. That is why it is
very important for Americans to remember Dr. King and
what he stood for. I think that this cause could best be serv
ed by setting aside an entire day to commemorate the works
of Rev. King. However, I also think that the burden of pro
viding activities to insure that students remember why they
are out of class should fall on the backs of student
organizations.
Let’s face it; a holiday for Dr. King is not an impossible
task; several other schools in the UNC-system did it. Why
not Fayetteville State?
