November 8, 1989 Page 2 Editorials Ball BY STEPHEN T. WARD Going over the passed Homecoming Week, my ears are still "thudding” from the sound of stomping feet from the "Step Show.” Instead of the battle of bands. It was the battle with the feet. The auditorium was packed shoulder to shoulder. Greeks chanted: girls made strange shrlll-llke animal sounds; people danced In the aisles. The energy In the place was Incredible. EX^eryone seemed to be having a great time. W^th the music loud and the lights turned off Just before each appearance, the place was rocking. Although the football teaun has had a losing season, they held the lead over halftlme for the Homecoming Game. Though 1 was not at the game, I had caught the Homecoming Spirit and listened to the game’s broadcast Before the game, the parade was telecast With the large crowd that gathered, FSU looked good. Dr. Hackley was interviewed following the telecast I did attend the Coronation Ball. This event brought back the "good ole high school days.” Wearing tuxedos and evening gowns, everyone looked "good." The evening had a romantic atmosphere. Mellow Madness V provided slow music to dance to. It was nice to have a little fund after mid-term exams. We at the Broncos’ Voice try to make each newspaper better than the previous, but we continue to make errors and typos. The problem Is the rush Jind the change to different printers. The rest of the errors Is blamed on the Bronsters. Please be patient with us. We are doing the best we can do. I would also like to encourage students and teachers to provide us with Information about awards or anything news worthy. This Is YOUR paper. Letters to the Ekiltor and our classified ads nerd input. If you have any questions, address it to the cflnor, we will try and publish them. I^eave your name and address on the material you send us - that is our only requirement Campus Fear.... Invitations were sent for the Governor’s Meeting held recently. Reading the directions of the places of the events were held, well-lighted places were stressed. Does the Fayetteville area feel appre hensive about FSU? Are these fears only localized? The campus, by leaps zuid bounds, is gaining wide academic respect. If there is an “unfounded” phobia, let’s have the campus provide more community Involved affairs. Let people see for themselves how nice the campus is. So how’s the Health and Physical Education Complex coming along? This is rumored, but a company may have been selected for construction work. Now, a location has to be chosen. Word has it, that a sight close to the football field would be ide£il. There, the Health and Physical Education Complex could be used with the football stadium. With this set up, perhaps more athletes will be attracted. In addition, with the growing academic quality of the University, even more athletes will consider becoming a student here. FSU Is in the UNC system. How come our football stadium isn't as big as the others? High schools have nicer football fields. Some of the ladles on campus have been complain ing about hostility from guys. During Homecoming, some of the “play" tactics the guys were Involved were quite rough. Eggs were thrown and buckets of water were hurled on the girls. Sure It’s fun to have panty raids, put sogip suds in the water fountain, garb the trees, and statues with toilet paper, but it was not necessary to harrass the ladies. Mr. Egg Thrower, throw a flower at the girls instead of an egg. When fourth graders have crushes on girls, they pull pony tails, shoot spit wads, squirt water guns, or do something attractive to get the girl's attention. Do you think the girl you threw eggs on at the ballroom dance will say “yes” when you ask her out for a date? We are gentlemen so let's l)e gentle with the ladies. Letter to Editor October 25, 1989 Dear Ma Blhlmeyer: There seems to have been some interest generated by your Initial article on the University Bookstore.
