The yearly examination is the first step leading to appointment as a Foreign Service Officer with the Department of State, the United States Information Agency or the U.S. and Foreign Commercial Service of the Department of Commerce. It will be offered in approximately 200 locations nationwide and at all U.S. diplomatic and consular posts abroad. Applications for the second annual American Institute for Foreign Study College Division Minority Scholarship for the fall 1992 semester are now being accepted. The scholarship is being offered in an effort to help increase the participation of ethnic minority college students in study abroad programs. The scholarship, which is applicable on semester AIFS programs in Austria, Britain, France, Germany, Italy, Mexico, and Spain, includes both tuition and ^oom and board. Applications for the scholarship will be accepted from African-Americans. Hispanic-Americans, Vative- Americans, Asian-Amencans, and Pacific ^slanders. The Crispus Attucks Institute, Inc. in Washington, D.C., announced its awards program for college students who submit economic position papers for competitive consideration. The $100 awards are made for position papers on economic productivity in general or capital formation in particular. The Institute will make awards on a monthly basis beginning on October 1, 1991. Visions in Action’s 1992-1993 Development Internships in Africa. The 1992-1993 program includes one-year internships in Nairobi, Kenya; Kampala, Uganda; Harare, Zimbabwe; Ouagadougou, Burkina Faso (French-speaking West Africa); Cape Town, South Africa (6 months from June to December 1992). USA Today, in cooperation with four higher education associations, is beginning its annual search for the nation's best college students. Sixty of them will be named to our 1992 All-USA Academic Team. The students selected will be featured in a special section of the newspaper, planned for mid- February. The 20 first-team members will be invited to receive their awards at a ceremony in Washington. DC. Each of the first team members will receive a $2500 cash award. Any full-time undergraduate is eligible. Each nomination must be signed by a faculty member familiar with the student’s work and an administrator. Winners will be selected by a panel of educators, chosen in cooperation with the co-sponsors.
