nies. Ricardo Morgan served as the
Master of Ceremonies for the
evening.
Crockett says he is honored to
have been selected as Mr. FSU. He
said that the competition afforded
him and his fellow contestants the
opportunity to display their talents
and show young men in a positive
light. Restated, “too often young
men are depicted by the media in a
negative manner while the many
constructive aspects go unnoticed.”
Crockett says he is looking forward
to working with Miss FSU and serv
ing as an ambassador for the Univer
sity. He will perform his first duties
as Mr. FSU at the Fourth Annual
Miss Fayetteville State University
Scholarship Pageant, where he and
the other Mr. FSU Contestants are
scheduled to appear. The Miss FSU
Pageant will be held on Saturday,
April 23, 1994 at 7:00 p.m. in the
Seabrook Auditorium.
One suspects that this is only the
beginning of a future which will be
filled with success, high achieve
ment, and honor for Crockett and the
other young men who participated
in the competition.
ZACQUES D. GRAY SELECTED
AS S.6.A. PRESIDENT
On April 5.1994 the FSU student
body voiced its opinion strongly
and cleariy in selecting Zacques
D. Gray to succeed Trudy Fields
as the 1994-95 President of the
Student Government Association
(SGA). From a field of outstand-
big nominees (Shawna McCaden
is the current SGA Vice-president
Timothy Boyldns is well known
for his involvement in campus
and civic organizations and ac
tivities), “Zack” emerged as the
clear favorite. His selection is the
latest in a long line of accom
plishments that underscore Zack’s de-
sire to get involved; reflects his dedi
cation, focus, determination, and con
cern for FSU; and most importantly,
displays by word and action that
when ^ven the opportunity to contrib

Affion “Flexx” Crockett was re
cently crowned Mr. Fayetteville
State University at the school’s Mr.
FSU Competition. Crockett, a
Chancellor’s Scholar, is a junior
from Fayetteville, NC majoring in
Business Administration. A mem
ber of Phi Eta Sigma Honor Society
and the FSU Dance Troupe, Crockett
wowed the judges and audience dur
ing the self-expression competition
with a dance routine he choreo
graphed. Zacques Gray, SGA Pro
gram Director and a Chancellor’s
Scholar, was selected First Runner-
Up. Jeremy Wright, a member of
Kappa Alpha Psi Fraternity, was se
lected as Second Runner-Up. Also
competing for the title were Oyango
Burney, Jeremy Hollingsworth, Mat
thew Mercer and Eric Walker, who
was selected as Most Inspirational by
his fellow contestants.
The competition was sponsored
by the FSU Pan-Hellenic Council.
The Council thought a more formal
competition patterned after the Miss
FSU Pageant would be an excellent
opportunity to showcase some of the
many talented young men on the
campus. The contestants were
judged in five categories; Student
Vote, Athletic Wear, Casual Wear,
Self-Expression and Formal Wear.
“The Male of the 90’s... What a
Man” was the theme of the competi
tion. The contestants, with help from
“The Ladies In Black”, performed a
show stopping opening routine to
Salt and Pepper’s single, “Whatta
Man”. Desiree McCormick, Miss
