He said that the competition afforded him and his fellow contestants the opportunity to display their talents and show young men in a positive light. Restated, “too often young men are depicted by the media in a negative manner while the many constructive aspects go unnoticed.” Crockett says he is looking forward to working with Miss FSU and serv ing as an ambassador for the Univer sity. He will perform his first duties as Mr. FSU at the Fourth Annual Miss Fayetteville State University Scholarship Pageant, where he and the other Mr. FSU Contestants are scheduled to appear. The Miss FSU Pageant will be held on Saturday, April 23, 1994 at 7:00 p.m. in the Seabrook Auditorium. One suspects that this is only the beginning of a future which will be filled with success, high achieve ment, and honor for Crockett and the other young men who participated in the competition. ZACQUES D. GRAY SELECTED AS S.6.A. PRESIDENT On April 5.1994 the FSU student body voiced its opinion strongly and cleariy in selecting Zacques D. Gray to succeed Trudy Fields as the 1994-95 President of the Student Government Association (SGA). Affion “Flexx” Crockett was re cently crowned Mr. Fayetteville State University at the school’s Mr. FSU Competition. Crockett, a Chancellor’s Scholar, is a junior from Fayetteville, NC majoring in Business Administration. A mem ber of Phi Eta Sigma Honor Society and the FSU Dance Troupe, Crockett wowed the judges and audience dur ing the self-expression competition with a dance routine he choreo graphed. Zacques Gray, SGA Pro gram Director and a Chancellor’s Scholar, was selected First Runner- Up. Jeremy Wright, a member of Kappa Alpha Psi Fraternity, was se lected as Second Runner-Up. Also competing for the title were Oyango Burney, Jeremy Hollingsworth, Mat thew Mercer and Eric Walker, who was selected as Most Inspirational by his fellow contestants. The competition was sponsored by the FSU Pan-Hellenic Council. The Council thought a more formal competition patterned after the Miss FSU Pageant would be an excellent opportunity to showcase some of the many talented young men on the campus. The contestants were judged in five categories; Student Vote, Athletic Wear, Casual Wear, Self-Expression and Formal Wear. “The Male of the 90’s... What a Man” was the theme of the competi tion. The contestants, with help from “The Ladies In Black”, performed a show stopping opening routine to Salt and Pepper’s single, “Whatta Man”.
