SEARCHING FOR SOLID GROUND ; BROnCO PRIDC TEST TO ROCK rsu 15-17 SEPT 94 By Diana McBride and Bob Roland Fayetteville State University has an interesting mix of traditional and non-traditional students. This often creates more than an interesting dilemma when scheduling university events designed to attract all students. As it so often happens, the two student groups almost never socialize at university events outside of the classroom. Several FSU students noticed this and, in an effort to bring both groups together in a student sponsored activity, developed the idea of BRONCO PRIDE FEST. As Chairperson of the Bronco Pride Committee, Diana McBride has been working diligently to develop a program which promotes both community pride and university spirit among all FSU students. As the project unfolded, committee members broadened the initial plan of a Bronco Pride Day into a Bronco Pride Fest consisting of three days of student-led activities. Bronco Pride Fest begins on Thursday, September 15th at 11:00 a.m. in the east campus gazebo area with a cafeteria lunch at school prices. Student organizations will have activity booths set up to entertain and socialize with students and family members. There will be a short halt to the activities to allow all to attend the University's Fall Convocation, scheduled in Seabrook Auditorium at 2:00 p.m. Bronco Pride Fest activities should resume around 5:00 p.m. On Friday, the student government will sponsor a dance in the FSU Women's Gym, beginning at 10:00 p.m. and lasting until 2:00 a.m. Bronco Pride Fest activities will culminate with a lOK run/5K walk on Saturday. Sponsored by the Middle Grades Education Club, late registration begins at 8:00 a.m. at the FSU stadium with the run starting at 9:00 a.m. the walk will begin at 9:10 a.m. Participation T-shirts are included in the registration fee. Trophies will be awarded for top finishers in the men and women divisions. Flyers with additional information on Bronco Pride Fest activities will be posted throughout the campus. Keep a sharp look out and don't forget to take some time, cone on by, participate, and show your student spirit. If you'd like more information on what will take place, contact Diana McBride at 822-7597 or Rae Presley-King at 867-3940. continued for pg. 2 university. To that end, we have the right and responsibility to respectfully question and have answered any queries or area of this university that we perceive as inadequate, insufficient, or just plain questionable. There's only one way to find solid ground- by looking honestly at who you are, what you do, who or what you truly want to be. The difference in these points is perspective; the answer to their difference is direction. Some say that the truth shall set you free but it doesn't pay the bills. If that's the case at FSU, than this may well be the last time you read me in print! I would rather argue that if "From Excellence To Greatness" is truly our goal at FSU, then we should openly and gladly welcome any inspection that would help us better fulfill that goal by acurately assessing where we stand and more importantly, ...where we could fall.
