Scholar From Page 6 versity undergraduate years. After uncovering these statistics, my next ques tion concerned what was being done to increase the future retention rate of scholars. Ms. Patricia Heath, the new Director of Public Education Out reach, informed me of some programs that were recently initiated to assist in monitoring the academic progress of the scholars and promote a higher retention rate of scholarships among these students. One of the new est programs is the Pro fessional Development Program. This program directed towards Chancellor's Scholars was started to provide early information to help scholars achieve their maximum potential within the university. Various speakers will be brought in through the Profes sional Development Pro gram this year to speak to the scholars on dif ferent topics of inter est to the students. Uzi-D From Page 7 elusion, Snoop must have a sister because she uses the same hooks and references to that illegal leaf through the whole album (but the beats were hype) . Aaliyahs debute album was definitely slammin' except the fact that I got tired of hearing Mr. Kellys voice in almost every song. We know you hooked her tnan, let the girl sing. This 15 year old beau tiful young lady is definitely one to look out for. My favorites are the title cut and "Street Thang." Heavy- D dropped his latest "Nuttin But Love" and it's pretty good. This CD is more on the R & B tip than his others were and misses some of those rough cuts that we're used to hearing. Check out the slow ver sion of "Got Me Wait ing"; it's phat. The group Dis and Dat re leased their CD en titled "Bumpin'". They are out of Fayetteville but they claimed At lanta, GA as well as that GA sound. Aside from using the "Whoot, There it is " hook, and a life time supply of 808 quads, the bottom line is that they did make it and it's a phat tape if you enjoy the dance floor. All I can say about them is check out the video. Teddy Riley did it again with Black Street . The CD has been sold out in stores, but some people haven't been satisfied. The original Black Street member that sang on "Baby Be Mine" is not on this album and whomever took his place doesn't have the skills or flavor that he had. Over all the beats are phat but something is still missing. Teddy can only do so much and singing is not one of those things. Jamie Fox released his album, and the slow jams on this might get some people Rronoos'Voice (September 1994 in trouble this year. This brother got skills, nuff said. Check out MC Eight's CD; it's also pretty phat. Comming soon is Boyz II Men, Pete rock and CL Smooth, Parish (PMD) Smith from EPMD, Usher Raymond (Slammin), and Public Enemy. If there is any thing that I didn't mention. I'll put it in the next issue. Until next time, this is Uzi- D saying God bless, peace, and see ya when I see ya.
