The latest induction ceremony was held Friday, November 4,1994, in the Multipurpose Room of the Student Center. Miss Kimberly Smith, a mathematics instructor at Fayetteville State University (FSU), was the speaker. Miss Smith was inducted into Alpha Kappa Mu as an under graduate at North Carolina Central University. She holds a graduate de gree in the teaching of mathematics from FSU. In her message, Miss Smith congratulated the inductees and reminded them that their present accomplishment does not represent a destination or a resting place. Instead, it should simply be a rung on the ladder of continuing success. Inductees, in other words, should “keep on their work ing clothes” as they target additional goals. Students inducted into Rho Beta Chi Chapter of Alpha Kappa Mu on November 4, were: Helann Evans, Trinette Flowers, Joyce Freeman, Samuel Garrett, III, Bruce Lanier, Carol McMillan, and Sylvia Vaughan. During the 1993-94 academic year, speakers at induction ceremonies were Judge Olah Lewis and Attorney Roger Newman. Both speakers were inducted into Alpha Kappa Mu at FSU. Attorney Newman challenged inductees to always take the time to make the best choice possible when ever they are given the opportunity to make a decision maker in some way. Judge Lewis encouraged the audience to remember to serve others, especially by helping younger Americans to be some law-abiding citi zens. All three speakers continue to exemplify the characteristics expected of Alpha Kappa Muans: scholarship, character, leadership, citizenship, and service. Furthermore, they are engaged in noteworthy professions.
