Broncos' Voice Staff Profiles
In 1975, when Chicago city workers opened the Rush Street sewer
system and found a four-year-old boy missing the first two fingers on his
left hand and unable to say anything but, “Alligator short nose, crocodile
long nose,” they gazed in awe and wonder, looked around for the fore
man, and immediately welded the manhole shut.
Sixteen years later, another crew, unaware that the Rush Street storm
drain was not to be disturbed, opened the line. Deep within the bowels of
Chicago’s belly, they beheld a tall, lanky gollum cowering in the dark
ness, with hair and flesh almost devoid of pigment, whose first act was to
invite the crew in for a beer. The grateful crew named him Dionysus the
Ale Man, wine god and beer maker. Throughout the duration of the storm
drain overhaul, this spry and clever morlock would entertain the crews
by playing Wagnerian arias on a kazoo, the haunting melodies reechoing
throughout the underground labyrinth.
Soon, even for Chicago, the job was completed. The saddened crew'
bade farewell to their friend and presented him with gifts: an old pocket
watch, a copy of Robert Anson Heinlein's “Time Enough for Love,” a
harmonica, and a brown felt fedora hat. As the manhole was shut, the
crew saw for what they thought was the last time the Ale Man, standing
in the misty light of the sewer, clutching his belongings to his chest, gaz
ing up at the men he had
to come to think of as
/ooc/.”
But the gentle
morlock's heart was
touched by the kind crew,
and, armed with his new
gifts, and, thankfully, a
pair of pants, he ventured
into the whirling, fright
ening chaos of Chicago.
His mastery of English
not being what it was to 2en and the art of paperwork
become, his name was misunderstood to be “Dennis Allman,” by the
caring Shinto monks who took him into their small rectory, and taught
him the ways of a civilization that were as strange to the morlock as they
were to the monks.
Dennis learned well, and emerged from the monastery untouched by
the ordeal, other than a particularly sharp sense of smell, poor eyesight,
an undiscerning palate, and a strange dislike for Lifetime’s reruns of
“Beauty and the Beast.”
But man, can he play that kazoo.
The above story is not true. The whole thing took place in Detroit.

Quotes: ... and that really gets my panties in a bunch.
.. that’s where I got my Little Mary @#$!$% Sunshine disposition.
Do you have something to teach me? If not, shut up.
Do not tell me your name, nor whence you came. Do not tell me your
race, color or creed. Tell me how you are hurt, and I will help you.
My convictions are many; my beliefs few.
Contrary to popular belief, I do not practice atheism, or any ism for that
matter. Isms in my opinion are not good. I quote Ferris Bueller, quoting
John Lennon: “I don’t believe in Beatles, I just believe in me.” He should
know. He was the Eggman. John Lennon, that is.
My goal for this paper is to inform the reading public of the power of
information.

I’d advise anyone who is interested
in having lots of fun and working hard
to promote FSU to join the Broncos’
