Music News From Uzi-D
Wazup Broncos? Once again it’s on
with another entertainment update
from UZI-D. Homecoming ’95 was
what you made it, and if you made the
concert then you made the best of it.
Mad Skilz, Diana King, A Few Good
Men, AZ, Kut Klose, and
Doug...E...Fresh turned it out. Oh yeah,
Teddy performed as well.
Anyway, Mad Skills’ performance
was pretty decent aside from all the
profanity used while he was
representin’ the fact that he was from
around the way. Nevertheless, I needed
a neck brace ‘cause my neck knew it
was phat (check it out like this, and
then like that!). Diana King sounded,
and looked, pretty good singing her
new single “Love Triangle,, and from
the Bad Boys sound track,“Shy Guy.,,
A Few Good Men had nice music and
tried to croon to the ladies while pass
ing out roses, but not too many people
seemed to respond. Teddy left someth
ing to be desired according to the
crowd’s response, but he did show up
(unlike Beenieman). Even though it
seemed as if he was up there for 40
days and nights, Teddy’s stage routine
was pretty well choreographed. Kut
Klose sounded good and looked good,
but what the John Brown was up with
Miss Silhouette up there in warp sec
tor six? I’m not gonna lie; she was nice,
but I’m sure that her solo performance
was not part of the choreography. Not
to my surprise, AZ did not turn it out,
especially since it was hard to see him
with half of Queensbridge, NY on
stage with him. Were the blunts just
an added visual or was the visuaiiz-
er’s vision blurry? Anyway, I did like
the way he broke into “Life’s A B—„
and then rocked the crowd with “Sugar
Hill.,,
Now you know that I know that you
said “Who wants to see Doug E.
Fresh?,, Well let me tell you, if Doug
E. had not shown up, the real Bronco
feud would have been the night of the
concert. As usual, the old school came
correct and wrecked shop. Doug E.
Fresh had people jumping and acting
a fool for a good forty-five minutes.
Even to this day, his performance is
tattooed on my mentals; especially the
harmonica beat-box trick. The party
was at the Capel arena that night and
big ups to my peeps for taking good
care of our facility. If all goes well and
nobody trips, I hope for many more
events to happen right here on
Fayetteville State University’s cam
pus. For all who came and had a good
time, thanks for showing your Bronco
pride. As for that HoJo incident, what
were they thinking? That was like fit
ting twenty brothers in a Volks Wagen.
Anyway, until next time, God willing,
this is UZI-D saying much love, peace,
and soul. One more thing the sexiest
sign is VIRGO! (Yeahhhhhhhh!)
The Wu-Tang
by Gamaliel Massenhurg
The Wu-Tang Clan is one of, if not
the, hottest rap groups out today. The
fat tracks, raspy vocals, and variety of
the artists in the Wu-Tang Clan have
added to their popularity. But many
people are unaware of the meaning of
the main theme in their music. The
message is in the Method Man’s solo
album as well as the Old Dirty Bas
tard and Raekwon the Chefs albums.
What is this theme? The 36 Cham
bers of death. But what does the 36
chambers of death mean?
The meaning of the 36 chambers is
very complex but can be explained
briefly in a superficial manner. The
36 chambers represent levels of
achievement one must pass while
transforming from animal to god.
They are called chambers of death be
cause as you pass through each level
the old you, or your old way of living,
dies. These levels are also called
chambers of death because like death
we fear change, whether it is good or
bad. The 36 chambers are symbolic of
acts or obstacles we must pass to be
come one with God. One of the levels
for example is to purify your body of
all unnatural substances.
The 36 levels originate from the
anatomy of the human body. There
are 53 vertebrae in your spinal column.
These represent 33 physical and men
tal levels. The top 3 levels represent
your transformation from man to an
gelic to godly being, which culminates
at your third eye and is entirely a
spirutiual transformation.
The philosophy of the 36 chambers
is also used by Masons and Christians.
The Masons use the first 33 levels in
their secret ceremonies but are unable
to understand the top 3 due to the spiri
tuality involved. Christians do not
recongnize the first 33 levels as levels
but rather as sins and commandments
or instructions as to what to do and
what not to do. In Christianity, the top
3 levels are represented by the Trin
ity.
The Wu-Tang Clan is not just a
regular, run-of-the-mill rap group. The
Wu uses their poetical styles to spread
deep philosophical knowledge to the
listening ear and mind. The messages
are hidden due to their importance but
if you “listen,, with your third eye, they
become obvious.
Ice Cold Jam

On October 20, Homecoming Fri
day, Alpha Phi Alpha Fraternity, Inc.
threw a slamming party at the
Seabrook Recreation Center. Despite
the rain and chilly weather, the turn
out was good. The crowd was lively,
yet in check. Everyone who attended
left their attitudes (and weapons) at the
door.
Judging from the response of the
crowd, D.J. B-Lord turned the party
out. Straight outta South Carolina,

I’m back like vertebrae and I love
it when people are sweating me. I’m
sure at least a third of all FSU students
are. Don’t lie about it; after the step
show Friday night I know many of you
(especially the Greeks) were mum
bling comments like, “Wonder what
that *#&$@!! is going to write about
this time?,. It’s all good, though, be
cause you know I just tell it like it is;
dropping the real and saying what the
rest of you are thinking, but are too
afraid to say. DON’T BE INTIMI
DATED! On Friday, October 20,1995,
I stepped into the Cumberland County
Civic Center seven deep with my girls,
dressed to impress, and ready for a
slamming show. Well, if it had not
been for the ladies of Delta Sigma
Theta Sorority, Inc. and The Ladies of
Distinction Drill Team, I would have
demanded my eight dollars back.
Not even the best Greek steppers
present on that rainy night could have
intimidated the Ladies of Distinction
Drill Team. If you ask me, SGRho,
ZPhiB, AKA, and DST all need to do
some early recruiting. The Ladies of
KAY
Distinction actually out-stepped most
of the participants of the step show. It
was truly a pleasure to see young
people engaging in positive activities
and keeping the tradition of stepping
new, live. Black, and full of flava. For
more info on these talented young la
dies, check out Tonia Clare-Jones’s
article in the October edition of the
Broncos’ Voice.

Homecoming, what everyone waits
for. What everyone gets ready for.
Clocks wind down and the steppers are
rushing to take their places.
The scene is set. Everyone in the
audience is hype. The fraternities and
sororities are giving their calls and
those who are prospective sisters and
brothers listen with admiration.
The first people to start off the show
were the Fayetteville State GoSpel
Choir. They were white t-shirts with
Alpha and Omega on them. They
opened up the show with the Negro
National Anthem, “Lift Every Voice
and Sing.,, I would have to say that that
was one of the best renditions of the
song I had ever heard.
The first steppers to grace the stage
were the girls from the Girls’ Club of
Fayetteville. The first thought that ran
through my head was, “I will clap even
if they aren t good,,, but to my surprise
they were terrific. The person who
helped them with their routine did a
terrific job. They cdptured the eye and
attention of everyone in the audito
rium.
Finally, it was the ladies turn to
start off the stepping. The first ones
up were the ladies of Delta Sigma
Theta Sorority, Inc. What was to be
expected no one knew, but they made
sure that when they finished everyone
knew exactly who they were. Their
stepping was original and outspoken.
The ladies to come after had a hard act
to follow.
The next ladies to come up were
Zeta Phi Beta, Inc. They began their
act with a basketball scene. In my opin
ion, that was an original idea. Their
stepping was good, but it was slow and
plain. The thing that was messed up
about the whole ordeal was the fact that
they were disrespected. Even if their
act was not as interesting, there was
no need for people to be walking
around and having conversations dur
ing the show. I give the ladies step
ping credit for keeping it together dur
ing all the disrespect.
The last and final ladies to step
were the dignified ladies of Sigma
Gamma Rho, Inc. I did not know what
to expect out of this group of ladies.
